It all comes down to this! Six talented Duelists have battled to the top, and everything now rides on this final Match! For our Feature Match, we’ll be covering Antonio Papa’s Branded Dracotails against Pierre Burguls’s @Ignister Maliss. The winners will be taking home the trophies, Ultra Rare copies of Anotherverse Stratios, and the titles of TEAM YCS Las Vegas Champions!

Duel 1

Papa started with a hand of Dracotail Mululu, Dracotail Urgula, Dracotail Pan, The Fallen & The Virtuous, and The Fallen of the White Dragon.

Burgals won the dice roll, and Normal Summoned Backup @Ignister. He sent Maliss <P> Dormouse to the Graveyard, then banished it to Special Summon Bystial Magnamhut! He activated Magnamhut’s effect, and Special Summoned Dormouse. He used Dormouse’s effect, banishing Maliss <P> White Rabbit from his Deck and Special Summoning it. That let him Set Maliss <C> MTP-07. He used Dormouse, Magnamhut, and Backup to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Red Ransom. That let him add Maliss in the Mirror to his hand. He banished Red Ransom in order to activate MTP-07, adding Maliss <P> March Hare to his hand. Red Ransom returned to the field and banished Maliss <P> Chessy Cat from his Deck, which he also Special Summoned. He used Chessy Cat’s effect to banish March Hare and draw two cards, then used March Hare’s effect to return to the hand. He used all his monsters to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter. He banished MTP-07 from his Graveyard to Special Summon March Hare, then Special Summoned Backup @Ignister from his hand. He used Hearts Crypter’s effect, returning MTP-07 to his Deck to banish itself. Then he Special Summoned the banished Hearts Crypter. He used all his monsters to Link Summon Allied Code Talker @Ignister! That returned Red Ransom to the field, and he Set two back row cards. He’d paid a lot of Life Points for this turn, but the ending field was worth it.

Papa drew Branded Fusion! He activated The Fallen & The Virtuous, sending Titaniklad the Ash Dragon to the Graveyard to destroy Allied Code Talker @Ignister! He Normal Summoned Mululu, then Special Summoned The Fallen of the White Dragon by sending Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon to the Graveyard. He used the effect of The Fallen, bringing Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous to the field. He then used the Graveyard effect of Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon, targeting his Titaniklad and Red Ransom – Burgals Chained Bystial Druiswurm, banishing the Titaniklad first, and Druiswurm hit the field. Papa followed up with Incredible Ecclesia’s effect, bringing Fallen of Albaz to the field. He used its effect, discarding Urgula, and Burgals flipped Maliss in the Mirror to try and negate it. Papa Chained to that with Mululu, and Burgals flipped Dominus Impulse! The Chain resolved with Red Ransom being banished, and it returned to the field while banishing White Rabbit from his Deck. He Special Summoned White Rabbit, which Set MTP-07. Finally, Papa activated Branded Fusion! He fused Fallen of Albaz from his field with Dracotail Phryxul from his Deck, into Albion the Branded Dragon! He used Albion’s and Phryxul’s effects, and Burgals flipped MTP-07 by banishing White Rabbit. He added March Hare to his hand, then banished Albion. Lukias put Rahu Dracotail on the field, and finally, Albion’s effect fused Fallen of Albaz, The Fallen of the White Dragon, and Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon into The Dragon that Devours the Dogma!

It shuffled Dormouse and Hearts Crypter back into the Deck/Extra Deck. Papa used Urgula’s effect, returning Phryxul to his hand. He flipped up Rahu, fusing Dracotail Faimena from his Deck with Dracotail Pan in his hand, into Dracotail Arthalion! Arthalion returned Faimena to the hand, and both Faimena and Pan had their effects activate. He Set Ketu Dracotail and Dracotail Sting from his Deck, and destroyed Red Ransom. He flipped up Ketu, adding Urgula to his hand and fusing it with Phryxul into Secreterion Dragon. He used Urgula’s effect to Set Dracotail Flame. He used Secreterion Dragon’s effect, putting Urgula back in his Deck and Special Summoning Phryxul. He used Phryxul to Special Summon Pan, and returned Mululu to his hand. He tried to go to the Battle Phase, and Burgals had Nibiru, the Primal Being!

Papa lost his field, except for The Dragon that Devours the Dogma since it was protected by its effect. Then, Burgals’s Druiswurm wiped out the Primal Being Token. Papa sent his last surviving Dragon to destroy Nibiru in battle. Before the turn’s end, Burgals Special Summoned March Hare by banishing Maliss in the Mirror. Mirror put Dormouse and another March Hare in his hand. In the End Phase, Incredible Ecclesia left the Graveyard to go to Papa’s hand.

Burgals used March Hare to Link Summon Linguriboh. He played Gold Sarcophagus, and Papa flipped up Dracotail Flame. Burgals responded with Linguriboh to negate it, and Gold Sarcophagus banished Chessy Cat from his Deck. He Special Summoned Chessy Cat, then used its effect to banish March Hare and draw two cards. He returned March Hare to his hand, dropping to 2900 Life Points. He Normal Summoned Dormouse, then activated its effect. Papa Chained Dracotail Sting, targeting Gold Sarc and Red Ransom to banish them. He returned Ketu to his Deck to draw Dracotail Lukias. Dormouse resolved, banishing a second Chessy Cat. Next, Burgals activated the effect of his banished Red Ransom to Special Summon it. He used its effect to add Maliss in Underground to his hand. He used his monsters to Link Summon Hearts Crypter, and tried to end the Main Phase. He sent Hearts Crypter, boosted by Dormouse’s effect, to attack over The Dragon that Devours the Dogma. In the End Phase, that let Papa add The Fallen & The Virtuous to his hand.

Papa drew a second Incredible Ecclesia. He Normal Summoned it, then activated Faimena’s effect. He fused the Ecclesia and Lukias, both from his hand, into Arthalion. Its effect targeted Hearts Crypter and Faimena from his Graveyard, and Lukias’s effect activated. Burgals responded with Hearts Crypter’s effect, returning Maliss in the Mirror to his Deck to banish itself. Lukias put Ketu on the field, and Faimena went back to the hand. In a new Chain, Burgals activated his banished Hearts Crypter, and Chained Infinite Impermanence from his hand (now that his field was temporarily clear) targeting Incredible Ecclesia. Papa responded with Incredible Ecclesia’s effect to Special Summon The Fallen of the White Dragon from his Deck, which brought Incredible Ecclesia back. Papa flipped Ketu, adding Urgula to his hand and fusing Ecclesia with The Fallen into Albion. Albion fused The Fallen with Secreterion Dragon into Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon. He moved to the Battle Phase, and Burgals had another Nibiru! For the second time this Duel, Papa lost everything, receiving a 11,000 ATK / 7000 DEF Primal Being Token for his efforts.

Papa’s previous Arthalion returned from the Graveyard. Papa then Normal Summoned Mululu and used its effect, fusing Urgula with Lukias into Dracotail Gulamel. He activated Urgula’s effect and Chained Gulamel’s effect to destroy Nibiru. Urgula Set Rahu on the field. He moved to the Battle Phase, for the third time trying to end the first Duel… and Burgals had nothing left to stop him!

This single Duel was such a back and forth, some of their team mates had already finished their whole Match! Kevin Goncalves-Rodrigues had defeated Cameron Neal, leaving Burgals’s team ahead. Just as the Duelists presented their Decks for the next Duel, Matthieu Bricard defeated Cristian Urena!
