We’re in the final round of Swiss at the 2025 North America Remote Duel YCS! In this Feature Match, we have Jamie Hunter playing the Vanquish Soul K9 Deck, playing against Zio Mundry and his pure Yummy Deck. Each of these Duelists has a 9-2 record going into the final round, so they’ll need to win in order to give themselves the best shot at making it to the Top 8 cut. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Mundry won the die roll and chose to go first! He started by Normal Summoning Cupsy☆Yummy and searching for Yummy☆Surprise; on resolution, Hunter activated the effect of Dimension Shifter, but Mundry Chained Called by the Grave, negating Shifter’s effect! He used Cupsy to Link Summon Salamangreat Almiraj, then Special Summoned Cooky☆Yummy from hand. He used Almiraj and Cooky to Synchro Summon Cupsy☆Yummy Way, but when he activated its effect, Hunter Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! In response, Mundry activated the effect of Cupsy☆Yummy Way, Special Summoning Cupsy☆Yummy and Cooky☆Yummy from the Graveyard. He used Cooky to Link Summon Yummy☆Snatchy and place Yummyusment☆Mignon to the Field Spell Zone, then used Cupsy and Sntachy to Synchro Summon Lollipo☆Yummy Way! Next, he Special Summoned back Cooky and Cupsy from the Graveyard, then used Cooky☆Yummy and Lollipo☆Yummy Way to Synchro Summon Martial Metal Marcher and Special Summon Lollipo☆Yummy Way from the Graveyard. He then used Marcher and Cupsy to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light! Finally, Mundry used Lollipo☆Yummy Way to Link Summon another Snatchy, used Mignon’s effect to Special Summon back Cupsy☆Yummy to the field, then Set two cards to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Hunter drew for turn, but he already used two cards from hand to try and prevent Mundry from establishing a board. He knew he wouldn’t be able to push through, and so he chose to concede the first Duel.

Duel 2

Hunter chose to go first in the second Duel! He started by Normal Summoning Vanquish Soul Razen, but when he activated its effect, Mundry responded with the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Next, Hunter Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger, returning Razen to hand, then revealed K9-66a Jokul in hand to draw a card. He used Jokul’s effect to Special Summon Jokul and K9-04 Noroi from hand, searched for K9-17 Izuna, then activated Noroi’s effect, sending it to the Graveyard to look at Mundry’s hand of Cupsy☆Yummy, Obedience Schooled, and two copies of Dominus Purge! 

Here, Hunter Special Summoned K9-17 Izuna from hand and sent K9-ØØ Lupis to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned back the Lupis, then used Lupis and Jokul to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper”! However, when he activated its effect, Mundry Chained Dominus Purge. Next, Hunter used Borger to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher, Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Jiaolong from his hand, then revealed Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Razen to search for Vanquish Soul, Start!. He activated Start and used its effect to search for Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue, then used Jiaolong and Izuna to Xyz Summon Vallon, the Super Psy Skyblaster, and ended his turn. 

Mundry started his turn by activating Obedience Schooled; Hunter Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, but Mundry followed it up with Called by the Grave, the card that he had just drawn for turn! Mundry Special Summoned Marshmao☆Yummy, Cooky☆Yummy, and Lollipo☆Yummy from Deck. Here, Hunter activated the effect of Rock, adding Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger back to hand, then Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue from hand and used its effect to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love from his Deck and search for Vanquish Soul Snow Devil. Hunter Special Summoned Borger by returning Mad Love to hand, then activated Borger’s effect to draw a card, but it was met by Mundry’s Dominus Purge! Hunter used Start’s effect to prevent his Borger from being destroyed, then used Vallon’s effect to flip Mundry’s Cooky to face-down Defense Position. 

To continue his turn, Mundry Normal Summoned Cupsy☆Yummy and searched for Yummy☆Surprise. He used Marshmao to Link Summon Yummy☆Snatchy and place Yummyusment☆Mignon to the Field Spell Zone, He then activated Surprise, targeting Hunter’s Hollie Sue and Vallon, as well as his own Snatchy and Cupsy, to return them all to hand, then Chained Snatchy’s effect to use Snatchy and Cupsy to Synchro Summon Lollipo☆Yummy Way and bring back Snatchy and Cupsy from the Graveyard. He used Cupsy to Link Summon another Snatchy, then activated Mignon’s effect to Special Summon back Marshmao☆Yummy and add Yummy☆Surprise back to hand. 

Thanks to the effects of Hunter’s Vanquish Soul monsters, Mundry was aware of all of the cards in Hunter’s hand, and knew that he could proceed to the Battle Phase safely. He destroyed Hunter’s monsters in battle, then attacked directly with his remaining Yummy monsters to wipe out the rest of Hunter’s Life Points! 

With the victory, Mundry improves to a 10-2 record. Stay tuned to see if he is able to make it to the Top 8!
