Round 4 Feature Match: Yuta Abe vs. Herman Hansson
Yuta Abe from Yokohama, Japan is using a fan-favorite Primite Blue-Eyes Deck to compete in the 2025 North America Remote Duel YCS, and he’s currently 3-0 in the tournament! Now he’s facing off against Herman Hansson from Sweden, who was on “Team Ragnarok” at the 2025 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship in the MASTER DUEL Division. Hansson and his teammates are the reigning MASTER DUEL World Champions, and now Hansson is competing in this weekend’s YCS with a K9 Vanquish Soul Deck! Hansson hasn’t yet won a YCS trophy, though he came close in the past with a second place finish at a Remote Duel YCS in 2021 when he used a “Beetrooper” Deck. Hansson is hoping that this weekend’s event will give him his first YCS Champion title to add to his Dueling achievements. Remote Duels can pit any Duelist against someone else anywhere else in the world, and this Round 4 Feature Match is the perfect demonstration of that happening. With Yuta Abe suddenly Dueling against a World Champion from across the globe, it’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Abe started off Duel 1 by Normal Summoning Sage with Eyes of Blue and using its effect to add Effect Veiler from his Deck to his hand. Hansson activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos from his hand and then Abe activated the effect of Maiden of White in his hand by sending it to his Graveyard to place True Light in his back row. He activated True Light’s effect to Set Wishes for Eyes of Blue, prompting Hansson to activate Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue’s effect in his hand by revealing Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love. He Special Summoned the Hollie Sue. He then activated Hollie Sue’s effect by revealing Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Mad Love from his hand, using its effect to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Razen from his Deck in the same column as the Sage. He used Raizen’s effect to add Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius from his Deck to his hand and then used Raizen’s effect to destroy Sage by revealing a FIRE and DARK monster from his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Caesar Valius from his hand with its effect by returning Hollie Sue from his field to his hand. He revealed Mad Love, Ash Blossom, and Hollie Sue from his hand to use Caesar Valius’s effect and destroy the face-down Wishes. Abe activated another Wishes from his hand by discarding Mausoleum of White, and Hansson negated it by activating the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. With no moves left to make, and staring down a field of Vanquish Soul monsters before Hansson even took a turn, Abe conceded.

Yuta Abe is going first in Duel 2!
Duel Two
Abe started off Duel 2 by activating Wishes for Eyes of Blue by discarding Effect Veiler from his hand. He added Sage with Eyes of Blue and Majesty of the White Dragons from his Deck to his hand and then Normal Summoned the Sage. He used the Sage’s effect to add a Maiden of White from his Deck to his hand and then sent Sage to the Graveyard to Link Summon Spirit with Eyes of Blue. He didn’t immediately activate its effect since he already had a Mausoleum of White in his hand, and then activated the Mausoleum he was holding. He used the Mausoleum’s effect to send a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from his Deck to his Graveyard and increase the Spirit’s ATK. He then used Spirit’s effect to Tribute it and Special Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from his Graveyard. He Normal Summoned Maiden next, then sent the Maiden to the Graveyard to place True Light face-up in his back row with the Maiden’s effect. He used True Light’s effect to Set Roar of the Blue-Eyed Dragons and then activated the Roar to Special Summon a Blue-Eyes from his Deck in Defense Position. He activated the effect of the Maiden in his Graveyard to Special Summon it and then Tuned Maiden with a Blue-Eyes to Synchro Summon Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon. He Set 2 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.
Hansson activated the effect of Hollie Sue in his Main Phase to try to Special Summon it by revealing Mad Love from his hand. Abe Chained Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to negate the activation of the effect and destroy the Hollie Sue. Next, Abe Tributed his Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon to Special Summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Spirit Dragon from his Extra Deck. Hansson activated “A Case for K9” next and used its effect to add K9-17 Izuna from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Mad Love from his hand and activated its effect, but Abe Chained the effect of Ultimate Spirit Dragon to negate the activation of its effect and increase the ATK of his Ultimate Spirit Dragon. Next, Hansson sent Mad Love to the Graveyard to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher and used its effect to try to return Hollie Sue from his Graveyard to his hand; but Abe Chained Effect Veiler’s effect to negate it. Hansson activated Stake your Soul! by revealing Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from his hand next, and Special Summoned Razen from his Deck. He used Razen’s effect to add a Hollie Sue from his Deck to his hand and then revealed Ash Blossom from his hand to activate Razen’s effect so that it couldn’t be destroyed by card effects during the turn. Next, he Special Summoned Izuna from his hand. He activated its effect on the field to send K9-ØØ Lupis from his Deck to his Graveyard and then activated Lupis’s effect in the Graveyard to Special Summon it to his field. Hansson activated Majesty of the White Dragons next, showing Hansson the Blue-Eyes on his field and the Blue-Eyes in his Graveyard to destroy Lupis and Rock of the Vanquisher. Next, Hansson activated the effect of the K9-66a Jokul in his hand by revealing it along with Hollie Sue! He Special Summoned both monsters and then used Jokul’s on-field effect to add K9-66b Lantern from his Deck to his hand. He activated Hollie Sue’s effect by revealing Ash Blossom and Lantern from his hand, and Special Summoned Caesar Valius. Next, he combined Izuna with Jokul to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper”. He detached an Xyz Material from Ripper to add Izuna from his Deck to his hand. He then used Caesar Valius’s effect by revealing all three cards from his hand, destroying True Light. True Light’s effect triggered to destroy all of Abe’s monsters, and when the Ultimate Spirit Dragon’s effect activated in the Graveyard, Hansson negated it with Ripper’s effect! Next, Hansson Special Summoned Lantern from his hand and Izuna from his Graveyard by using Lantern’s effect. He then used Lantern’s on-field effect to add K9 X-Forced Release from his Deck to his hand. He entered his Battle Phase next, and then direct attacks from Hansson’s monsters wiped out all 8000 of Abe’s Life Points!

Herman Hansson takes the 2-0 win and advances with a 4-0 record!
