Our Round 4 Feature Match is a Justice Hunters showcase! We have Ahmed Ghazi, from Calgary, AB, using a Fiendsmith K9 Dracotail Deck. He’s facing Jason Yuan, from Toronto, ON, using Yummy! That means all three of the new themes are represented in one Match!

Duel 1

Yuan won the dice roll and played first. Ghazi had a hand of Shaddoll Beast, Mulcharmy Purulia, Dracotail Pan, K9-17 Izuna, and Dracotail Lukias. He activated Purulia’s effect at the start of the turn.

Yuan began with Obedience Schooled, bringing Lollipo☆Yummy, Cooky☆Yummy, and Cupsy☆Yummy to the field! He used Cupsy to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy, which put Yummyusment★Acroquey on the field. He used Snatchy and Lollipo to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way, which let him add another Cupsy and Cooky to his hand, then discard Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! after. He used Cupsy★Yummy Way to Link Summon a new Snatchy, then tuned it to Cooky for Lollipo★Yummy Way. Its effect brought Cupsy★Yummy Way and Cupsy☆Yummy to the field with their effects negated. He used both of them to Synchro Summon THE Star Ham, which let him discard Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones and revive Cupsy. Cupsy’s effect put Yummy☆Surprise in his hand. He Set two back row cards and finished with all his monsters in Defense Position.

Ghazi drew K9-66a Jokul. He Normal Summoned Lukias and activated its effect. Yuan responded with Lollipo★Yummy Way, returning it to the Extra Deck, and Chained Forbidden Droplet, sending Cooky from his hand to the Graveyard. Droplet negated Lukias, and Lollipo★Yummy Way revived Cupsy★Yummy Way and Snatchy. Lukias was negated in the end. Ghazi could already see where this Duel was going, and made the call to concede here before revealing more of his strategy. That would hopefully give him an edge in Side Decking for the next Duel.

Duel 2

Ghazi began the next Duel with Ketu Dracotail, Dracotail Pan, Nibiru the Primal Being, Dracotail Faimena, and Shaddoll Beast. He began with Ketu, adding Dracotail Lukias to his hand. He Normal Summoned Lukias and activated its effect, adding another Faimena to his hand. He activated Faimena’s effect, fusing Shaddoll Beast and Pan from his hand into Dracotail Arthalion. Pan’s effect Set Rahu Dracotail, Beast let him draw a second Nibiru, and Arthalion returned Faimena and Beast to his hand. He then used Arthalion and Lukias to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven. He used that to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem, and activated its effect. Yuan thought a while, and decided to use Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate Requiem. Ghazi flipped up Rahu, fusing Faimena from his hand and Dracotail Urgula from his Deck into Dracotail Gulamel. He revived Arthalion, and then Faimena and Urgula together Set Dracotail Horn and Dracotail Flame on the field. He used Urgula’s Graveyard effect, returning it to the Deck to add Faimena back to his hand.

Yuan began with Obedience Schooled, and Ghazi flipped up Dracotail Flame. Yuan had a second Ash Blossom to negate Dracotail Flame, making Obedience Schooled resolve safely! He Special Summoned Cupsy, Lollipo, and Cooky with their effects negated. He used Cooky to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy, and used its effect to put Yummyusment☆Mignon on the field. He tuned Snatchy to Lollipo for Cupsy★Yummy Way, using its effect to add Cooky and Lollipo to his hand and discard Cooky. He used Cupsy to Link Summon a new Snatchy, then used Mignon to revive Cupsy. He used its effect to add Yummy☆Surprise to his hand. He activated Surprise, targeting Snatchy and Cupsy, along with Ghazi’s two Fusion Monsters. He then Chained Snatchy’s effect to Synchro Summon. Ghazi Chained Nibiru! Everything was Tributed, and Yuan got a 6400/8600 Primal Being Token in Defense Position. He Normal Summoned Lollipo, returning Gulamel from Ghazi’s Graveyard back to the Extra Deck. In a new Chain, Ghazi tried using Dracotail Horn to return Lollipo to the hand – Yuan had Dominus Purge to negate it! Ghazi now used Faimena, fusing his other Faimena with Shaddoll Beast into a new Dracotail Arthalion. That play created the following Chain

Chain Link 1: Arthalion, targeting Ghazi’s own Lukias in the Graveyard and Yuan’s Lollipo on the field.
Chain Link 2: Shaddoll Beast, to draw a card.
Chain Link 3: Faimena, to Set a Dracotail Spell or Trap Card.

Yuan added to the Chain with Forbidden Droplet, sending Mignon to the Graveyard. Arthalion was negated, Faimena put Ketu Dracotail on the field, and Beast let  Ghazi draw Book of Eclipse. Yuan continued, using Lollipo to Link Summon a third Snatchy. He Special Summoned Cupsy from his hand, tuning Snatchy to it for Lollipo★Yummy Way. It brought Cooky and Cupsy★Yummy Way back to the field. He used both monsters to Link Summon Ukanomitsune-no-Onari, which put Yummy☆Surprise on the field. He sent Onari to attack, trading with Arthalion thanks to Droplet halving its ATK.

Ghazi drew Faimena. He flipped up Ketu Dracotail, and Yuan decided to concede here. There was 17 minutes remaining in the round, and he didn’t expect to make much of a comeback – better to move on to the next Duel with enough time to play it out.

Duel 3

Ghazi began the final Duel with a hand of Lacrima the Crimson Tears, Rahu Dracotail, K9-66b Lantern, K9-66a Jokul, and Shaddoll Beast.

Yuan Normal Summoned Cupsy, adding Surprise to his hand. He Link Summoned Snatchy, putting Yummyusment★Acroquey on the field. He Special Summoned Cooky, then used both monsters to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way. He used it to add Cupsy and Lollipo to his hand, discarding Lollipo. He used Cupsy★Yummy Way to Link Summon a new Snatchy, then Special Summoned a Lollipo. He Synchro Summoned Lollipo★Yummy Way, which revived Cupsy★Yummy Way and Cupsy. He used those to Synchro Summon Martial Metal Marcher, bringing Cupsy★Yummy Way back once again. He Special Summoned Cupsy from his hand. He used Cupsy and Metal Marcher to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light. He then used Cupsy★Yummy Way to Link Summon Snatchy. He Set two back row cards.

Ghazi drew Dracotail Pan. He activated Jokul’s effect, revealing Shaddoll Beast, and Yuan tagged Lollipo★Yummy Way out for Cupsy and Cupsy★Yummy Way. Ghazi’s monsters hit the field, but Yuan wasn’t finished yet. He drew with Cupsy, then activated Snatchy’s effect. He tuned it to Cupsy for Cooky★Yummy Way, turning both of Ghazi’s monsters face-down. Ghazi Normal Summoned Lacrima, and didn’t use its effect since Herald of the Arc Light’s Continuous Effect was active. He Link Summoned Fiendsmith’s Requiem, and activated that effect. Yuan Chained Cupsy★Yummy Way, tagging it out for Snatchy and Lollipo. Requiem then put Fiendsmith Engraver on the field. The newly Special Summoned Lollipo banished Requiem from Ghazi’s Graveyard. Ghazi moved to the Battle Phase, attacking Herald with Engraver. Yuan used Snatchy’s effect to Synchro Summon, tuning it to Lollipo for Lollipo★Yummy Way. That let him use Acroquey to destroy the attacking Engraver, and Lollipo★Yummy Way Special Summoned Snatchy and Cupsy with their effects negated. In Main Phase 2, Ghazi returned Lacrima for Engraver’s effect, and Yuan responded with Cooky★Yummy Way to revive Snatchy. Engraver hit the field, and Ghazi activated Rahu Dracotail. Yuan negated it by Tributing his Herald. Then, he used Snatchy, tuning Cupsy to Lollipo★Yummy Way into THE Star Ham. Its effect let him discard Yummyusment☆Mignon to bring Cupsy back, and Snatchy’s effect was used again to bring a new Herald to the field! Ghazi passed, and Yuan used Surprise to revive Cupsy.

Yuan used the Graveyard effect of Mignon, recycling it along with some of his Yummy monsters. He used Acroquey to remove the Engraver once more, Synchro into Lollipo for Cooky and Cupsy, and used Cupsy for Snatchy. Snatchy put Yummyusment☆Mignon on the field.

He played Surprise, targeting Snatchy and Cooky along with Ghazi’s monsters, then Chained Snatchy’s effect to Synchro Summon Cooky★Yummy Way. Ghazi’s monsters were returned to the hand. He moved to the Battle Phase, and his Mignon-boosted monsters attacked to end the Match!
