13-year-old Gregory C. from Ohio won Saturday’s Dragon Duel Tournament. 13-year-old Nicholas R. from New York won today’s Dragon Duel Tournament. Now, they’re facing off in a Match that will determine the ultimate Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend! The winner will walk away with a Super Rare Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon prize card and a trophy. Both Duelists are using popular Decks for the Advanced Format. Nicholas is using a Magistus Branded Dracotail Deck, while Gregory is running a Vanquish Soul K9 Deck. The stakes are high, and the Duelists are ready! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Nicholas opened up Duel 1 with Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Dracotail Horn, The Fallen & The Virtuous, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Fallen of the White Dragon.

He Normal Summoned Fallen of the White Dragon and activated its effect to Special Summon Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous from his Deck. Gregory activated the effect of Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue by revealing Vanquish Soul Jiaolong from his hand. Nicholas continued his turn by activating The Fallen & The Virtuous. He targeted Hollie Sue and sent Albion the Branded Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. Gregory Chained Hollie Sue’s effect by revealing a FIRE and DARK monster from his hand to try to Special Summon a monster from his Deck, but lost out to Nicholas’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Nicholas Tuned Incredible Ecclesia with Fallen of the White Dragon to Summon Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity and then used its effect to attach Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden to it from his Extra Deck. He then used Artemis’s effect to add Spenta, the Magistus Sealer from his Deck to his hand. He activated Spenta’s effect by discarding it and added Crowley, the Gifted Magistus from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Crowley from his hand and then fused it with Zoroa by using its effect to Special Summon Invoked Magistus Omega. He activated Zoroa’s effect to Special Summon Zoroa from the Graveyard and destroy the Invoked Magistus. He then used the Invoked Magistus’s effect to Special Summon Dracotail Lukias from his Deck with the Invoked Magistus attached. He activated Lukias’s effect to add Dracotail Urgula from his Deck to his hand. He banished Spenta from his Graveyard to activate its effect and equip Artemis from his Graveyard to Zoroa. Next, he sent Artemis and Invoked Magistus from his back row to the Graveyard to Special Summon Magistus Chorozo. He Tuned it with Lukias Synchro Summon Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon and then activated its effect. He banished it until the End Phase to Special Summon Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous from his Deck. He activated Blazing Cartesia’s effect and fused Fuwalos and Urgula from his hand to Summon Dracotail Arthalion. He activated the effect of Arthalion targeting the Ash Blossom and Lukias in his Graveyard and Chained the effect of the Urgula in his Graveyard. He Set Rahu Dracotail from his Deck to his field with Urgula’s effect and then returned Lukias and Ash Blossom to his hand. He flipped the Rahu Dracotail and fused the Lukias in his hand with a Dracotail Faimena in his Deck to Summon Dracotail Gulamel. He activated the effects of Lukias and Faimena to Set Dracotail Flame and Ketu Dracotail from his Deck. He flipped the Ketu Dracotail to add Dracotail Mululu from his Deck to his hand. He then activated the effect of Urgula in his Graveyard and returned it to his Deck to return Faimena from his Graveyard to his hand. He Set Dracotail Horn and then ended his turn. In the End Phase, he used the effects of the Albion and Incredible Ecclesia in his Graveyard. He Set The Fallen & The Virtuous from his Deck and returned Incredible Ecclesia from his Graveyard to his hand. Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon returned to his field from banishment.

Gregory drew a card and then activated Super Polymerization in his Draw Phase by discarding K9-X Forced Release. He fused Blazing Cartesia with Arthalion to Summon Secreterion Dragon to his own field. Nicholas activated Dracotail Horn targeting the Secreterion Dragon, but Gregory negated its effect with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Gregory Normal Summoned Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love and activated its effect, but lost out on it to the effect of Nicholas’s Ash Blossom. In a new Chain, Nicholas activated The Fallen & The Virtuous by sending Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and destroyed Secreterion Dragon. Nicholas activated the effect of Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon next and banished it to Special Summon Fallen of the White Dragon. He used Fallen’s effect to Special Summon Incredible Ecclesia from his Deck and then activated the effect of Faimena from his hand. He fused the Mululu in his hand with the Fallen of the White Dragon on his field and Summoned Arthalion. He activated Arthalion’s effect and Chained Gulamel’s effect to destroy Mad Love. Gregory finally conceded, realizing he would not be able to win the Duel.

Duel Two

Gregory started off the second Duel and Nicholas activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos in the Standby Phase.

In his Main Phase, Gregory Normal Summoned Vanquish Soul Razen and activated its effect to add Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love from his Deck to his hand, prompting Nicholas to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird from his hand. Gregory activated Stake your Soul! next by revealing Retaliating “C” from his hand and Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue from his Deck. He sent Razen to his Graveyard to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher and activated its effect to return Razen from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he used Hollie Sue’s effect by revealing Razen and Mad Love from his hand. He Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Jiaolong from his Deck. He combined Jiaolong with Hollie Sue to Xyz Summon N.As.H. Knight and then activated its effect. He attached Number 104: Masquerade to it from his Extra Deck and then Xyz Summoned CXyz N.As.Ch. Knight over it. He then detached an Xyz Material from it to Xyz Summon Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade over it by using its effect. He activated Dimensional Fissure next.

Nicholas drew Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame and added it to his hand of Lightning Storm, Dracotail Mululu, and Spenta, the Magistus Sealer. He activated Lightning Storm to destroy the Dimensional Fissure. Gregory activated the effect of Rock of the Vanquisher to return Hollie Sue from his Graveyard to his hand next. Nicholas activated the effect of Spenta, the Magistus Sealer by discarding it and Gregory Chained the effect of Hollie Sue to Special Summon it from his hand by revealing Razen. Nicholas resolved Spenta’s effect and added Crowley, the Great Magistus from his Deck to his hand. He activated Crowley’s effect and Gregory activated his Number C104’s effect to negate it, randomly send Zoroa from Nicholas’s hand to his Graveyard, and cut Nicholas’s Life Points in half. Gregory activated Hollie Sue’s effect to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius from his Deck and then Nicholas banished Spenta from his Graveyard to activate its effect by targeting Mululu. Nicholas equipped Mululu with Artemis from the Extra Deck. He used Artemis’s effect next to add another Spenta from his Deck to his hand. He activated Mululu’s effect next, fusing the Mululu on his field with the Crowley and Spenta in his hand to Summon Dracotail Arthalion. He activated Arthalion’s effect as Chain Link 1 targeting the Crowley and Mululu in his Graveyard, and Chained Mululu’s effect. He Set Rahu Dracotail from his Deck and negated Caesar Valius’s effect with Mululu, then returned Crowley and Mululu from his Graveyard to his hand. He entered his Battle Phase and attacked Number C104 to destroy the C104 and Arthalion in Battle. Nicholas activated Rahu Dracotail next, and Gregory Chained the effect of Retaliating “C” from his hand. Retaliating “C” was Special Summoned to the field and Nicholas banished Mululu from his hand and Lukias from his Deck to Summon Arthalion. He thought for a moment and then conceded, realizing there was no way for him to win.

The Match is going to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Nicholas opened up Duel 3 with Branded Fusion, Dracotail Flame, Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous, Dracotail Faimena, and Dracotail Pan. He activated Branded Fusion, prompting Gregory to Chain the effect of Retaliating “C” from his hand. Nicholas Chained Faimena’s effect from his hand, and Gregory Chained the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos! Nicholas fused Pan with Incredible Ecclesia to Summon Arthalion with Faimena’s effect and then banished Spenta and Fallen of the White Dragon from his Deck to Special Summon Albion the Sanctifire Dragon, allowing Gregory to draw 2 cards thanks to his Fuwalos. Nicholas activated Arthalion’s effect targeting the Pan and Faimena in his Graveyard and Chained Pan’s effect. He Set Dracotail Horn from his Deck and destroyed Retaliating “C” with Pan before returning the Pan and Faimena to his hand with Arthalion’s effect. He Set Flame from his hand before trying to pass his turn. While still in the Main Phase, Gregory Special Summoned K9-17 Izuna from his hand and used its effect to send K9-ØØ Lupis from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned it back from his Graveyard with its effect and then used Lupis’s effect to combine it with Izuna and Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper” in Attack Position.

Gregory drew a card on his next turn and then activated the effect of “Ripper” in his Main Phase by detaching Lupis. He added K9-66a Jokul from his Deck to his hand. Nicholas flipped Dracotail Horn and, with Lupis no longer preventing “Ripper” from being targeted, “Ripper” returned to the Extra Deck. Gregory entered his Battle Phase and then Nicholas activated his Albion’s effect to Special Summon Incredible Ecclesia to Gregory’s field in Defense Position and Special Summon Lupis to Nicholas’s field in Attack Position. With a card on his field, Gregory could no longer activate the Evenly Matched in his hand that he had been planning to use. In Main Phase 2, Gregory activated the effect of Jokul in his hand by revealing K9-04 Noroi. He Special Summoned Jokul and Noroi to his field and then Nicholas activated the effect of Faimena in his hand. He fused the Albion on his field with the Pan in his hand to Summon Khaos Starsource Dragon. He activated the effects of Khaos and Pan. Pan Set Ketu Dracotail from Nicholas’s Deck and destroyed Noroi and Khaos destroyed Jokul. Gregory Normal Summoned Dr. Mad Love next and used its effect to add Vanquish Soul, Start! from his Deck to his hand. He activated its effect, but Nicholas Chained Dracotail Flame targeting it. Gregory Chained the effect of the Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger in his hand to Special Summon it by returning Dr. Mad Love to his hand. Vanquish Soul, Start! was negated and Nicholas returned Horn from his Graveyard to his Deck to draw a card. Gregory revealed Dr. Mad Love from his hand to use Heavy Borger’s effect and draw a card. Next, he activated Stake your Soul! by revealing Retaliating “C” from his hand. He Special Summoned Hollie Sue from his Deck and then activated its effect by revealing an EARTH and DARK monster from his hand. He took control of Lupis and then combined Lupis with Hollie Sue to Xyz Summon N.As.H. Knight. He activated its effect by detaching 2 Xyz Materials from it. He attached Number 104 from the Extra Deck to N.As.H. Knight and then attached Arthalion to it as an Xyz Material. Next, he upgraded N.As.H. Knight to CXyz N.As.Ch. Knight and used its effect to upgrade it to Number C104. He sent Heavy Borger to the Graveyard next to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher and used the Vanquisher’s effect to return Hollie Sue from his Graveyard to his hand. He Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Nicholas sent Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to activate the effect of the Fallen of the White Dragon in his hand and try to Special Summon it. Gregory Chained the effect of C104 to negate it, force Nicholas to send Rahu Dracotail randomly from his hand to his Graveyard, and cut Nicholas’s Life Points in half. Next, Gregory Special Summoned Hollie Sue from his hand by revealing Dr. Mad Love from his hand. Nicholas entered his Battle Phase and then attacked Number C104, destroying his own Khaos Starsource Dragon in battle and losing 500 Life Points. Nicholas activated Ketu Dracotail next and Gregory Chained the effect of Retaliating “C” to Special Summon it from his hand! Nicholas added Lukias from his Deck to his hand and then used the effect of the Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon in his Graveyard. He returned the Ecclesia and Khaos Starsource in his Graveyard back to the Deck, along with Gregory’s Retaliating “C”. Nicholas Normal Summoned Lukias next and activated its effect, and Gregory Chained his Rock’s effect to return Heavy Borger from his Graveyard to his hand. Nicholas added Faimena from his Deck to his hand with Lukias’s effect and then Gregory activated Heavy Borger’s effect to Special Summon it by returning Hollie Sue to his hand. He activated the Borger’s effect by revealing a DARK monster to draw a card, and Nicholas Chained Faimena’s effect. He fused the Lukias on his field with the Fallen of the White Dragon in his hand to Summon Arthalion before Gregory drew a card from Borger’s effect. Nicholas activated the effect of Arthalion targeting the Pan in his Graveyard and Chained Lukias’s effect in his Graveyard. Gregory Chained the effect of the Lupis in his Graveyard to Special Summon it, and then Nicholas Set Rahu Dracotail from his Deck with Lukias’s effect and returned Pan to his hand. He flipped the Rahu Dracotail to fuse the Pan in his hand with the Urgula in his Deck. He Summoned Gulamel and then activated the effects of Pan and Urgula as Chain Links 1 and 2. He Chained Gulamel’s effect to target and destroy Gregory’s Number C104. With the effects of Pan and Urgula, he Set Dracotail Sting and Dracotail Horn from his Deck to his back row and destroyed Lupis and a face-down Evenly Matched. Next, he activated Urgula’s effect in the Graveyard and returned Urgula to his Deck to add Faimena from his Graveyard to his hand.

Gregory drew a card and Nicholas activated Dracotail Sting in the Standby Phase targeting Jokul and Stake your Soul! in the Graveyard. Gregory Chained Heavy Borger’s effect to draw a card. The two cards were banished from Gregory’s Graveyard, Nicholas returned Ketu from his Graveyard to his Deck, and Nicholas drew Triple Tactics Talent with the effect of Sting. In his Main Phase, Gregory activated Stake your Soul! by revealing Jiaolong from his hand. Nicholas Chained Dracotail Horn targeting Rock of the Vanquisher to return the Rock to the Extra Deck, but Gregory Chained the Rock’s effect to Special Summon Jiaolong from his hand. Nicholas returned Flame from his Graveyard to his Deck and drew a card after returning Rock to the Extra Deck and then Gregory Normal Summoned Razen and activated its effect to add Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius from his Deck to his hand. He sent Razen to the Graveyard to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher and then Xyz Summoned Super Starslayer TY-PHON – Sky Crisis over Heavy Borger. Nicholas activated the effect of Faimena in his hand and then Chained Gulamel’s effect to target and destroy TY-PHON. Faimena’s effect resolved to fuse Arthalion on the field with Fallen of the White Dragon in his hand. He Fusion Summoned Khaos Starsource Dragon and used its effect to destroy Vanquish Soul, Start!. He also used the effect of the Arthalion in his Graveyard to Special Summon it back to the field.

Nicholas drew Infinite Impermanence for his turn. He tried to enter his Battle Phase, but Gregory used his Rock’s effect to return Razen from his Graveyard to his hand while still in the Main Phase. Next, Nicholas activated Caesar Valius’s effect in his hand to Special Summon it by returning Jiaolong to his hand. He attacked Caesar Valius with Arthalion and Gregory used Caesar Valius’s effect to destroy Arthalion. It was banished from the Duel, and Nicholas entered Main Phase 2. He activated Triple Tactics Talent to draw The Fallen & The Virtuous and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from his Deck. He activated The Fallen & The Virtuous by sending Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He targeted his own Gulamel for destruction and Nicholas Chained Hollie Sue’s effect to Special Summon it by revealing Razen from his hand. Hollie Sue was Summoned and Gulamel was destroyed. Next, Nicholas activated the effect of the Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon in his Graveyard. He returned the Ecclesia and the Albion in his Graveyard to the Deck to return Hollie Sue to the Deck along with them. Gregory Chained the Hollie Sue’s effect to try to Special Summon a monster from his Deck but lost out to Nicholas’s Ash Blossom. Nicholas Set Infinite Impermanence before ending his turn.

Gregory drew a card and then Normal Summoned Razen. He activated its effect but lost out to Infinite Impermanence. Next, he used his Rock’s effect to return Heavy Borger from his Graveyard to his hand. He Special Summoned it by returning Razen to his hand and then drew a card with its effect. He Special Summoned Jiaolong from his hand next by using its effect, and then switched Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous into Attack Position. Caesar Valius attacked and destroyed Khaos Starsource Dragon and Nicholas activated the effect of the Pan in his Graveyard to Special Summon Lukias from his Graveyard and return Pan to his Deck. He used Lukias’s effect to add Urgula from his Deck to his hand and then Ecclesia attacked and destroyed the Lukias. Direct attacks from Heavy Borger and Jiaolong wiped out the rest of Nicholas’s Life Points!
