Advanced Round 3 Feature Match: Jermaine Leach vs. Jared Adair

Jermaine Leach and Jared Adaira are two Duelists from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who compete at the same local tournaments. Now, both of these Duelists with 2-0 records are facing off against one another in this Round 3 Feature Match! Both Duelists are relying on K9 cards to win this weekend, but they’ve partnered their K9 cards with completely different strategies! Leach is using “Cyber Dragon” and “Cyberdark” cards alongside his K9 cards, while Adair paired his K9 monsters with cards “Fur Hire”! Strategies “Fur Hire” got a big boost from the recent release of Burst Protocol, and Adair is looking to take advantage of it. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Adair started off Duel 1 by activating “A Case for K9” and using its effect to add K9-66a Jokul from his Deck to his hand.

Next, he activated the effect of Rex, Ride Fur Hire in his hand by revealing Rex, Freight Fur Hire. He Special Summoned Freight Fur Hire from his hand, followed by Ride Fur Hire. He used the effect of Freight Fur Hire, and Leach Chained the effects of K9-17 Izuna and K9-ØØ Lupis from his hand to Special Summon both. Adair added Rookie Fur Hire from his Deck to his hand with Freight Fur Hire’s effect. Adair activated the effect of Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill targeting Lupis, and Leach Chained the effects of Izuna and Lupis. Lupis’s effect allowed it to combine with Izuna to Xyz Summon Artifact Durendal and then Izuna’s effect sent K9-66a Jokul from his Deck to his Graveyard. Adair then activated the effect of Durendal by detaching an Xyz Material, attempting to force both players to shuffle their hands into the Deck and draw new cards. Adair Chained the effect of Rookie Fur Hire by Tributing Rex, Freight Fur Hire, and then Chained the effect of Izuna in his hand to Special Summon it. Rookie Special Summoned Beat, Bladesman Fur Hire from the Deck with its effect, and then Durendal’s effect resolved. Adair shuffled 1 card from his hand into his Deck to draw a new card, and Leach shuffled 3 cards from his hand into his Deck to draw three new cards. Next, Adair Special Summoned Lupis from his Graveyard with its effect. He combined Lupis with Izuna to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper” and activated its effect by detaching Izuna from it. He added K9-66b Lantern from his Deck to his hand and then Special Summoned it from his hand with its effect alongside the Izuna in his Graveyard. He then used Lantern’s effect to add K9-X Forced Release from his Deck to his hand. He combined Izuna with Lantern to Xyz Summon K9-66X “Jacks” and then activated K9-X Forced Release to upgrade “Jacks” to K9-X “Ripper M” and destroy Durendal. Next, he used the effect of “Ripper M” to shuffle Lupis and Jokul from Leach’s Graveyard into his Deck. He sent Rex and “Ripper M” to the Graveyard to Link Summon Keel, Shipwright Fur Hire and activated the effects of Keel and Beat. He added Rafale, Champion Fur Hire to his hand and Set Fandora, the Flying Fighting Furtress to his field with Keel’s effect. He flipped it up and then activated its effect to add Rex, Freight Fur Hire from his Deck to his hand and discard Mulcharmy Purulia. Next, he activated the effect of Beat, and Leach Chained the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia from his hand. Adair Special Summoned Rafale from his hand, allowing Leach to draw a card, and Adair activated Rafale’s effect. He excavated Ghost Mourner and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from his Deck and added the Ash Blossom to his hand with its effect. Next, he Link Summoned Folgo, Justice Fur Hire and activated its effect to Special Summon Donpa, Marksman Fur Hire from his Deck.

Leach drew K9-X Forced Release and added it to his hand of Chaotic Elements, Scrap Recycler, and Disblaster the Negation Fortress. He activated Chaotic Elements and Adair activated the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it. Next, he activated Disblaster the Negation Fortress in the Pendulum Zone in the same column as “Ripper”, prompting Adair to Chain the effect of Rex, Freight Fur Hire in his Graveyard by banishing it. Freight Fur Hire’s effect resolved to Special Summon Rafale from the Graveyard. He used Rafale’s effect to excavate Infinite Impermanence and Mulcharmy Fuwalos from the top of his Deck and add the Infinite Impermanence to his hand. He used the effect of the Donpa on his field to destroy Disblaster. Next, he used Folga’s effect to draw 3 cards, since he destroyed one of Leach’s cards and had 3 monsters “Fur Hire” on his field. Leach Normal Summoned Scrap Recycler next and activated its effect to send Cyberdark Chimera from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Cyberdark Chimera’s effect to try to send another card from his Deck to his Graveyard, but lost out to the effect of Adair’s “Ripper”. Leach conceded with no plays left to make.

Jared Adair takes a dominating victory in the first Duel of the Match with his K9 Fur Hire Deck! Leach chose to go first in Duel 2!

Duel Two

Leach started off Duel 2 with Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Spell Canceler, Cyber Emergency, K9-ØØ Lupis, and Clockwork Night.

He activated Cyber Emergency to add Cyber Dragon Core from his Deck to his hand, prompting Adair to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird! Next, Leach activated the effect of the Lupis in his hand to Special Summon it. He Tributed it to Summon Spell Canceller, causing the Lupis to be banished. Next, he Set Clockwork Night, and then tried to end his turn hoping the Spell Canceller would be enough to bring him victory; but at the end of the Main Phase, Adair activated the effect of Izuna in his hand to Special Summon it, then used its on-field effect to send Lupis from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned the Lupis, then used Lupis’s effect to combine it with Izuna and Xyz Summon K9-66X “Jacks”. He used the effect of “Jacks” to destroy Spell Canceller before starting his turn.

Adair Normal Summoned K9-04 Noroi and used its effect to Special Summon K9-66b Lantern from his Deck. He used Lantern’s effect to add “A Case for K9” from his Deck to his hand and then combined Noroi with Lantern to Xyz Summon “Ripper”. He detached an Xyz Material from “Ripper” to add K9-66a Jokul from his Deck to his hand and then activated Lantern’s effect in his hand to Special Summon it to his field along with the Noroi in his Graveyard. He activated “A Case for K9” next to add Izuna from his Deck to his hand and then used Noroi’s effect to send “A Case for K9” to his Graveyard and look at Leach’s hand of Fuwalos and Core. Moments later, direct attacks from Noroi, “Ripper”, Lantern, and “Jacks” wiped out all 8000 of Leach’s Life Points.

Jared Adair is advancing with a 3-0 record using his K9 Fur Hire Deck!
