We’ve reached the Top 8 here at YCS Columbus! For this Feature Match, we have two Duelists that are very familiar with competing in the Top Cut of YCS level events. Sam Arunnaveesiri is playing the DoomZ Deck, a powerful Deck that can build extremely strong boards. Meanwhile, Raymond Young Dai is playing the Sky Striker Deck, and he has chosen to incorporate a small package of Radiant Typhoon cards to add another way to access Sky Striker Ace – Camellia, as well as additional interactions in the form of Mystical Space Typhoon. Both Duelists have fought hard all weekend long to be here, but only one of them will move on to the Top 4. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Arunnaveesiri opened with Dimension Shifter, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Droll & Lock Bird, DoomZ VII Seven – Elara, and DoomZ V Five – Amalthe. 

Dai won the die roll and chose to go first! He started by Special Summoning Radiant Typhoon Eldam from hand and searching for Radiant Typhoon Swen, then Special Summoned Swen and searched for Radiant Typhoon Chant. On resolution, Arunnaveesiri activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos, but Dai Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Next, Dai used Swen and Eldam to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Camellia, then activated Radiant Typhoon Vision to search for Mystical Space Typhoon. Afterwards, Arunnaveesiri activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird, and Dai Chained another copy of Radiant Typhoon Vision, drawing 2 cards and discarding Radiant Typhoon Chant. Dai followed up by activating the effect of Camellia, sending Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to the Graveyard, then used Camellia to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and add Widow Anchor back to hand. From here, Dai activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Linkage!, sending Kagari to the Graveyard to Special Summon Sky Striker Ace = Zero and add Linkage back to hand. Finally, Dai Set 4 cards to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Arunnaveesiri drew Forbidden Crown for turn! He Normal Summoned DoomZ V Five – Amalthe and activated its effect, but was met by Dai’s Widow Anchor. Arunnaveesiri knew that the cards in his hand couldn’t push through Dai’s board, and he conceded.

Duel 2

Arunnaveesiri opened with Forbidden Crown, Plundered Power Patron Plane – Vidolia, DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus. He began by activating Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus, but Dai Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Arunnaveesiri activated Plundered Power Patron Plane – Vidolia, allowing him to banish Crown from hand to Special Summon Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron from the Deck. Here, he activated the effect of DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea, destroying Jupredo, Special Summoning Drastea, and equipping Drastea with DoomZ Command “D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G” from the Deck. In the following chain, he activated the effect of the destroyed Jupredo to search for DoomZ Change. Arunnaveesiri activated Change, then Chained the effect of Drastea to destroy Change, as well as the effect of Drastea to Special Summon DoomZ XII End – Drastrius! He sent DoomZ Destruction to the Graveyard then added it back to hand, and equipped Power Patron DoomZ to Drastrius. He used Drastrius’ effect to destroy Power Patron DoomZ, then activated its effect to search for DoomZ VII Seven – Elara. Finally, he Normal Summoned Elara and Set DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” to his backrow. He equipped DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” to Elara, then activated Elara’s other effect, but was met by Dai’s Infinite Impermanence! Arunnaveesiri Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Dai drew for turn, but was unable to make any proactive plays. He Set three cards to his backrow, then ended his turn. During the End Phase, Arunnaveesiri activated the effect of DoomZ VII Seven – Elara once again, but Dai Chained Widow Anchor, negating its effect!

Arunnaveesiri began his turn by once again activating the effect of Elara; however, Dai Chained Called by the Grave to banish Power Patron DoomZ from Arunnaveesiri’s Graveyard, and followed up with Forbidden Droplet, sending Called By to the Graveyard to negate Elara’s effect. Arunnaveesiri then Normal Summoned DoomZ V Five – Amalthe and searched for Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron. He used Elara and Amalthe to Xyz Summon Doomz Break – Diactorus, used it to Xyz Summon DoomZ XIII Over – Graflareio, then activated Graflareio’s effect to search for DoomZ Raiders and destroy Dai’s backrow. With no way to prevent Arunnaveesiri from building his board, Dai conceded. We’re going on to game 3!

Duel 3

Dai began the Duel in the Draw Phase by activating Radiant Typhoon Vision, drawing 2 cards and discarding Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones. In the Main Phase, he activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, searching for Sky Striker Ace – Raye. He then Normal Summoned Raye and activated its effect, Special Summoning Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and adding Engage back to hand. He activated Engage again, this time searching for Sky Striker Mobilize – Linkage! He activated Linkage, sending Kagari to the Graveyard to Special Summon Sky Striker Ace = Zero, then added Engage back to hand. He activated Engage for a third time, this time searching for Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and drawing a card! Next, Dai activated another copy of Radiant Typhoon Vision, this time searching for Mystical Space Typhoon. Finally, he Set 4 cards to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Arunnaveesiri drew DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea for turn! He Special Summoned Santa Claws to Dai’s side of the field, Tributing Dai’s Zero. Arunnaveesiri then attempted to Normal Summon Power Patron DoomZ, but Dai negated the summon with Solemn Judgment! Arunnaveesiri activated the effect of the destroyed Power Patron, but was met by Dai’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Arunnaveesiri Special Summoned Therion “King” Regulus from hand, equipping it with Power Patron DoomZ. However, on resolution, Dai activated Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying the Power Patron DoomZ! Arunnaveesiri entered the Battle Phase and attacked Santa Claws with Regulus, then Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Dai proceeded straight to Main Phase 1 and activated Widow Anchor, taking control of Arunnaveesiri’s Regulus. He then Normal Summoned Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and used Regulus and Ash to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Camellia. He used Camellia to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and added Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! back to hand, but when he activated Engage, Arunnaveesiri Chained Solemn Accusation, banishing Engage and all other copies of it from Dai’s Deck! Dai’s final card in hand was Radiant Typhoon Vision, so he activated it, drawing 2 cards and discarding The Fallen & The Virtuous. Dai attacked Arunnaveesiri’s Life Points directly with Kagari, used Kagari to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku, and searched for Skyy Striker Special Maneuver – Lemnisgate! during the End Phase, and ended his turn. 

Arunnaveesiri drew Triple Tactics Talent for turn! He Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Dai began his turn by activating Lemnisgate, returning 4 cards from his Graveyard back to the Deck and Extra Deck to return Arunnaveesiri’s Set card to hand. He used Shizuku to Link Summon  Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and added Linkage back to hand, then proceeded to the Battle Phase. Dai was able to wipe out the rest of Arunnaveesiri’s Life Points, so Arunnaveesiri conceded.

With that, Dai is moving on to the Top 4 here at YCS Columbus!
