We’re at Round 12 of the 300th YCS in Richmond! These Advanced Format Duelists each have 9-2 records, and are hopeful that they’ll make it into the Top Cut. Zaki Zadeh is playing the Fiendsmith Yummy Deck, while Brian Thomas Mills is playing the Branded Dracotail Deck. Only one of these Duelists can come out of this round with a victory! It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Mills won the die roll and chose to go first! He opened with The Fallen & The Virtuous, Ketu Dracotail, Dracotail Lukias, Dracotail Urgula, and Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous. During the Standby Phase, Zadah activated the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia! In the Main Phase, Mills Normal Summoned Ecclesia and activated its effect, but Zadah responded with the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Mills activated Rahu, but it was met by Zadah’s Dominus Purge. Mills Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn.

Zadah started by Normal Summoning Fabled Lurrie, and Mills immediately activated The Fallen & The Virtuous, sending Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon to the Graveyard to destroy Lurrie. During the End Phase, Mills activated the effect of Alba-Lenatus, adding Branded Fusion to hand, and Zadah ended his turn without any cards on the field.. 

Mills drew another copy of Dracotail Lukias for turn! He started by activating Branded Fusion, sending Fallen of the White Dragon and Dracotail Phryxul from his Deck to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Albion the Branded Dragon. He then activated Phryxul’s effect to Set Rahu Dracotail to his backrow, but Albion’s effect was met by Zadah’s Infinite Impermanence! Mills then activated Rahu, using Dracotail Faimena from his Deck and Dracotail Lukias from hand to Fusion Summon Dracotail Arthalion. He added Fallen of the White Dragon and Dracotail Faimena back to hand, and Set Dracotail Sting and Dracotail Flame to his backrow. Knowing that he would be unable to push through Mills’ board on the following turn, Zadah conceded the first Duel.

Duel 2

Mills opening hand contained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Dracotail Sting, Fallen of the White Dragon, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, and Forbidden Droplet. 

Zadah chose to go first in the second Duel! He began by activating the effect of Fiendsmith Engraver, searching for Fiendsmith’s Tract. He then activated Tract, searching for and discarding Fabled Lurrie. He Special Summoned back the Lurrie, and used it to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem! He activated Requiem’s effect and was met by Mill’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring; Zadah Chained Called by the Grave, but Mills followed up with the effect of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion! Afterwards, Zadah activated Triple Tactics Talent, drawing 2 cards from his Deck. 

Next, Zadah activated the effect of Fiendsmith Engraver in the Graveyard, returning Fabled Lurrie to the Deck. He equipped Requiem to Engraver, then sent it to the Graveyard to Special Summon Necroquip Princess in the Extra Monster Zone. He used Necroquip to Link Summon Gravity Controller, then Normal Summoned Effect Veiler. Finally, he used Veiler to Link Summon Linkuriboh and ended his turn. 

Mills drew Rahu Dracotail for turn! He began his turn by activating Rahu Dracotail, but it was met by Zadah’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Mills Special Summoned Fallen of the White Dragon by sending Albion the Branded Dragon to the Graveyard. He activated White Dragon’s effect, but Zadah Chained the effect of Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill! Mills entered the Battle Phase and attacked Linkuriboh with White Dragon, but Zadah Tributed the Linkuriboh to reduce White Dragon’s ATK to zero. Mills Set two cards to his backrow, and in the End Phase, used the effect of Albion to Set The Fallen & The Virtuous before ending his turn. 

Zadah started by Normal Summoning Marshmao☆Yummy! Mills immediately activated The Fallen & The Virtuous, sending Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon to the Graveyard to destroy Marshmao. Next, Zadah activated Yummy☆Surprise, attempting to Special Summon a Yummy monster, but Mills Chained Dracotail Sting, banishing Marshmao from Zadah’s Graveyard! Next, Zadah Special Summoned Engraver by returning Requiem to the Extra Deck, then activated Requiem’s effect to Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears from the Deck and send another Engraver to the Graveyard. Finally, Zadah used Lacrima and Gravity Controller to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. However, when he activated Sequence’s effect, Mills Chained Forbidden Droplet, sending White Dragon to the Graveyard to negate Sequence’s effect! Left with no other plays, Zadah proceeded to the End Phase. During the End Phase, Mills used the effect of Alba-Lenatus to add Branded Fusion to hand. 

Mills drew Rahu Dracotail for turn! He started by activating Rahu, using Dracotail Urgula from hand and Dracotail Lukias from Deck to Fusion Summon Dracotail Arthalion! He added Fallen of the White Dragon back to hand and Set Ketu Dracotail and Dracotail Horn to his backrow. Zadah didn’t have the resources to stop MIlls, and conceded.

With the victory, Mills’ record improves to 10-2!
