Mitsurugi Yummy Decks and Dracotail Decks took 7 of the 8 spots in the Top 8. Now, this Top 8 Feature Match pits these two Decks against one another. Lucas Sacco from Tulsa, Oklahoma entrusted his Mitsurugi Yummy Deck to win him a YCS trophy this weekend, while Muhtasim Mallick from Long Island, New York put his faith in the Branded Dracotail strategy. These two Duelists just played against one another in the final Swiss Round of the tournament. Lucas Sacco had an 11-2 record and Muhtasim Mallick had a 12-1 record when they got paired up – and by defeating Mallick in the final Swiss Round, Sacco secured his seat at this table. Now, they’re Dueling again in a Match that will eliminate one of these Duelists. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Mallick started off Duel 1 by activating Ketu Dracotail. He added Dracotail Faimena from his Deck to his hand and then activated its effect. Sacco Chained the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos and Mallick negated the effect of Fuwalos by activating the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Mallick fused Dracotail Phryxul with Fuwalos in his hand and Summoned Dracotail Arthalion. He used Arthalion’s effect to return Ash Blossom and Faimena to his hand and used Phryxul’s effect to Set Rahu Dracotail from his Deck. He flipped it and used its effect to fuse Faimena from his hand with Dracotail Urgula from his Deck and Summon Dracotail Gulamel. He used the effects of Faimena and Urgula to Set Dracotail Flame and Dracotail Sting from his Deck. Next, he returned Urgula from his Graveyard to his Deck to return Faimena from his Graveyard to his hand.

Sacco  drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for his turn and added it to his hand of Marshmao☆Yummy, Mitsurugi Great Purification, and 2 copies of Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi. He activated the effect of Habakiri in his hand to Special Summon Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji from his Deck and Tribute it. He activated Saji’s effect, but lost out to Mallick’s Ash Blossom. Then, he Special Summoned Marshmao☆Yummy from his hand and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy. He activated its effect to place Yummyusment☆Mignon from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone. Mallick activated Sting to try to shuffle Marshmao from the Graveyard into the Deck, and Sacco Chained Ash Blossom’s effect to negate Sting’s effect. In a new Chain, Mallick flipped Flame, targeting the Mignon. He Chained Gulamel’s effect to destroy Yummy★Snatchy and Sacco immediately conceded.

Duel Two

Sacco opened up Duel 2 with Cupsy☆Yummy, Forbidden Droplet, Yummy☆Surprise, Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi, and Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji.

He Normal Summoned Saji and activated its effect, but he lost out to Ash Blossom’s effect. Next, he sent Saji to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Almiraj. He Special Summoned Cupsy☆Yummy from his hand next and used its effect to add Lollipo☆Yummy to his hand. He Tuned Almiraj with Cupsy to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way and used its effect to add Cooky☆Yummy and Marshmao☆Yummy from his Deck to his hand before discarding Yummy☆Surprise from his hand. He Special Summoned Marshmao from his hand next, and used its effect to add Surprise from his Graveyard to his hand. He Special Summoned Cooky☆Yummy next and then Tuned Marshmao with Cupsy★Yummy Way to Synchro Summon Shamisen Samsara Sorrowcat. At that point, Mallick activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being in his hand! He Tributed all monsters on the field to Summon Nibiru and gave Sacco a Primal Being Token with 2600 ATK and 1200 DEF. Next, Sacco activated the effect of his Sorrowcat in the Graveyard by targeting the Cupsy★Yummy Way in the Graveyard; but Mallick Chained the effect of Bystial Magnamhut from his hand by targeting the Sorrowcat. The Sorrowcat was banished and then Cupsy★Yummy Way returned to the Extra Deck. Mallick activated Magnamhut’s effect on the field, and Sacco Chained Yummy☆Surprise. He then Chained Droplet, sending Surprise to the Graveyard. He resolved its effect to negate Magnamhut’s effect and then Special Summoned Marshmao from his Graveyard with the effect of Surprise. He sent Marshmao to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy and then used Snatchy’s effect to place Yummyusment☆Mignon from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone. He used the Mignon’s effect to Special Summon Marshmao back from his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Cooky☆Yummy from his hand. He used Cooky’s effect to shuffle Ash Blossom from Mallick’s Graveyard into his Deck and then sent Marshmao to the Graveyard to Link Summon another Snatchy. Next, he sent Lollipo☆Yummy and Snatchy to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Lollipo★Yummy Way. He used its effect to Special Summon a Lollipo☆Yummy and Marshmao from his Graveyard and then Tuned Lollipo★Yummy Way with Lollipo☆Yummy and Marshmao to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light. Next, he used Herald and the Primal Being Token as Link Materials to Link Summon I:P Masquerena. He used the effect of the Herald that he sent to the Graveyard to add Mitsurugi Ritual from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated the Mitsurugi Ritual and Special Summoned Mitsurugi no Murakumo no Mitsurugi from his Deck by Tributing Habakiri from his hand. He used Murakumo’s effect to destroy all monsters on Mallick’s field and then added Mitsurugi Mirror from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Habakiri. He used the Mirror to Special Summon Habakiri from his Graveyard by Tributing Murakumo from his field. He used the effect of his Tributed Murakumo to add Mitsurugi Great Purification from his Deck to his hand and Special Summon Murakumo back to the field from his Graveyard. He Set the Great Purification and then ended his turn.

Mallick drew a card and then conceded, unable to overcome Sacco’s field of monsters.

Duel Three

Muhtasim Mallick activated Ketu Dracotail and used its effect to add Lukias from his Deck to his hand.

He Normal Summoned it and then used its effect to add Dracotail Faimena from his Deck to his hand. Mallick activated Rahu Dracotail next, and Sacco Chained the effect of Retaliating “C” from his hand! Mallick Chained Faimena’s effect to fuse the Lukias on his field with the Phryxul in his hand before the Retaliating “C” was Summoned. He Summoned Arthalion to the field and the Rahu resolved without effect since Mallick had no monsters to Summon with it. Mallick activated the effect of the Arthalion on the field (targeting the Phryxul in his Graveyard) and Chained the effects of Phryxul and Lukias. He Set Dracotail Flame and Dracotail Horn from his Deck with the effects of Phryxul and Lukias before returning Phryxul from his Graveyard to his hand with Arthalion’s effect. He Set 2 more cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Sacco drew Marshmao☆Yummy and added it to his hand of Forbidden Droplet, Mitsurugi Prayers, Cupsy☆Yummy, and Yummy☆Surprise. He activated Mitsurugi Prayers from his hand during the Draw Phase and Mallick flipped Flame to negate it. He returned Ketu from his Graveyard to his Deck to draw a card and Sacco moved into his Main Phase. Next, Sacco tried to Normal Summon Cupsy☆Yummy, but Mallick flipped Solemn Judgment! He paid 4000 Life Points to negate its Summon! Sacco attacked Arthalion with Retaliating “C” in order to destroy his own Retaliating “C” in battle. That allowed Sacco to once again send cards to the Graveyard. Next, he Special Summoned Marshmao from his hand. He sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy and used Snatchy’s effect to place Yummyusment☆Mignon from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone. Next, Mallick flipped Dracotail Horn, targeting the Snatchy, and Sacco Chained Forbidden Droplet by sending Snatchy to the Graveyard. He negated Arthalion’s effect and halved Arthalion’s ATK with the Droplet and then Sacco activated Surprise to try to Special Summon a monster back from his Graveyard; but Mallick Chained Dragon’s Mind to negate the activation of Surprise and destroy it! With no cards remaining other than the Yummyusment☆Mignon on his field, Sacco conceded.
