Round 9 Feature Match: Jorje Kosho vs. Yuhao Ye
We’re beginning Day 2 with one of the Decks bolstered by Doom of Dimensions: D/D/D! It’s being piloted by Jorje Kosho, a Michigan Duelist and the only D/D/D player to make it to Day 2. His opponent is Yuhao Ye, from Markham, Ontario, playing Branded Dracotail! Ye’s Fusion Monsters will have to contend with Synchros, Xyz, and Pendulums in this Extra Deck extravaganza!
Duel 1
Ye began Day 2 with Ketu Dracotail, and Kosho negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. That left an opening for Ye to play Branded Fusion, sending Fallen of Albaz and Dracotail Phryxul to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Albion the Sanctifire Dragon. Phryxul’s effect Set Rahu Dracotail on the field. He activated it, sending Dracotail Lukias from his Deck and Mulcharmy Fuwalos from his hand to Fusion Summon Dracotail Arthalion. He used Arthalion’s effect to put Phryxul in his hand, and Lukias’s effect Set Dracotail Flame on the field. He Normal Summoned Phryxul, which let him Special Summon Lukias from his Graveyard, then return Phryxul to his hand. He used Lukias’s effect to add Dracotail Faimena to his hand. He activated Faimena’s effect, fusing Phryxul and Lukias into Dracotail Gulamel.
Kosho started his turn with Dark Ruler No More – Ye negated it with Dracotail Flame, which put a Ketu back in his Deck and let him draw a card. Kosho then Normal Summoned D/D Savant Kepler, which put Dark Contract with the Gate in his hand. He then played Dark Contract with the Zero King, but its effect was negated by Ye’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Kosho played Dark Contract with the Gate, and Ye responded with Sanctifire’s effect. He Special Summoned Phryxul to his field, and gave Kosho a Fuwalos. Ye activated Phryxul’s effect targeting Lukias, and he Chained Gulamel to destroy Dark Contract with the Gate before Kosho could activate its effect. Phryxul’s effect brought Lukias to the field and returned Phryxul to the hand. In a new Chain, Lukias put a Faimena in Ye’s hand. Kosho used Fuwalos and Kepler to Link Summon Beyond the Pendulum, and paid 1200 Life Points for its effect. However, upon looking at his Deck, he didn’t see a way to make it through this turn – he conceded.

Duel 2
Kosho started the second Duel by playing Dark Contract with the Gate. Its effect put D/D Savant Copernicus in his hand, and he Normal Summoned it. That let him send D/D Lance Soldier to the Graveyard. He then Special Summoned D/D Scale Surveyor, and Kosho responded to the summon with Faimena’s effect. He fused Dracotail Pan and Droll & Lock Bird into Arthalion. Arthalion returned Scale Surveyor to the hand, then Pan Set Ketu Dracotail on the field and destroyed Copernicus. Kosho destroyed his Dark Contract with the Gate to Special Summon Lance Soldier from his Graveyard. He played D/D/D Zero Doom Queen Machinex in his Pendulum Zone, and used it to put Dark Contract with the Zero King on the field. He used that to destroy Queen Machinex and Special Summon D/D Gryphon. He used Lance Soldier’s effect to make itself a Level 4, and Xyz Summoned D/D/D Wise King Solomon. He detached Gryphon from Solomon to add D/D Orthros to his hand. He used Solmon to Xyz Summon D/D/D Marksman King Tell, then Special Summoned a new Gryphon from his hand. He used Gryphon and Marksman King Tell to Link Summon D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh. Tell’s effect sent D/D Necro Slime to the Graveyard, and Gilgamesh put both D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok and a new Queen Machinex in the Pendulum Zones. Since Gilgamesh dealt damage to him, he was able to Special Summon Orthros. He used Orthros and Gilgamesh to Link Summon D/D/D Sky King Zeus Ragnarok. He used Necro Slime’s effect, fusing his monsters from the Graveyard into D/D/D Flame King Genghis.
He Pendulum Summoned Gryphon, Orthros, and Copernicus, and Genghis brought another Gryphon from the Graveyard. Gryphon put D/D/D Headhunt in his hand. He used Orthros and Gryphon to Synchro Summon D/D/D Cursed King Siegfried. Ragnarok then revived Lance Soldier. He used Lance Soldier and a Gryphon to Synchro Summon D/D/D First King Clovis. Clovis revived Lance Soldier. He used Clovis and Genghis to Xyz Summon D/D/D Wave High King Caesar. He used Sky King Zeus Ragnarok’s effect to Pendulum Summon again by destroying Lance Soldier, bringing Copernicus and two Gryphons into play. Gryphon let him discard Scale Surveyor to draw a card, and Surveyor returned Machinex from his Pendulum Zone to his hand. He used two Gryphons for D/D/D Wave King Caesar, and that with Copernicus to Link Summon a new Gilgamesh. Wave King Caesar’s effect put Dark Contract with the Gate in his hand. He used Gilgamesh to Xyz Summon D/D/D Deviser King Deus Machinex. He Set two cards in his back row.
Ye went directly to the Battle Phase and attacked Wave High King Caesar with Arthalion. Kosho flipped up Dark Contract with the Witch to win the battle! With no ways to play around Kosho’s pile of Extra Deck monsters, Ye conceded this Duel.

Duel 3
Ye began the final Duel with Lukias, adding Faimena to his hand. He played Ketu to find Dracotail Mululu. Kosho activated Fuwalos, prompting Ye to Chain Faimena to try and Fusion Summon before the Mulcharmy resolved. That let Kosho negate Faimena with Dominus Impulse! Ye thought a while, then played Branded Fusion! He sent Albaz and Phryxul to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Albion the Sanctifire Dragon. Kosho drew with Fuwalos. Ye activated Phryxul’s effect, and Chained Droll & Lock Bird to turn off Kosho’s Mulcharmy. Phryxul put Rahu on the field, and he flipped it up to fuse Mululu from his hand with Dracotail Urgula from his Deck, into Gulamel. He used Urgula and Mululu to Set Dracotail Flame and Dracotail Horn. He used Urgula’s effect to get Faimena back in his hand.
Kosho led with Dark Contract with the Gate, but Ye used Flame to negate its effect and draw a card. That was only a bait, as Kosho activated Dark Ruler No More! Kosho then Normal Summoned Kepler, adding Dark Contract with the Zero King to his hand. Ye activated Droll & Lock Bird, then Chained Horn to return Kepler to Kosho’s hand and draw a card before Droll took effect. Kosho played Kepler in his Pendulum Zone, then played Dark Contract with the Zero King. He used its effect targeting Kepler, but Ye had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Ye had too many answers, and Kosho conceded the Match!

Yuhao Ye takes this one with Branded Dracotail!
