We’re at the halfway point for Day 1 in the North American Remote Duel YCS, and the Duels are heating up! This time we’ve got Cesar Gonzalez Rodriguez, from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, playing Tenpai Dragon Rulers! His opponent is Timothy Dahl, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, playing Yummy Mitsurugi!

Duel 1

Dahl played first, and Rodriguez began the Duel by activating Mulcharmy Purulia. Dahl responded with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Rodriguez followed up with Mulcharmy Fuwalos! Get ready, folks – Dahl is about to take the Mulcharmy Mulchallenge.

Dahl Normal Summoned Marshmao☆Yummy, and Link Summoned Yummy★Snatchy. Snatchy put Yummyusment☆Mignon on the field. He used his Field Spell to Special Summon Marshmao, and he Synchro Summoned Cupsy★Yummy Way. Cupsy★Yummy Way let him add Cupsy☆Yummy and Cooky☆Yummy to his hand, and he discarded a Fuwalos. He Special Summoned Cupsy, adding Yummy☆Surprise to his hand. He Special Summoned Cooky, then tuned Cupsy★Yummy Way to Cupsy for Shamisen Samsara Sorrowcat. He used Sorrowcat and Cooky to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light. He used that to Link Summon Gravity Controller, and used Herald’s effect to put Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi in his hand.

He used Habakiri’s effect to Special Summon and Tribute Saji. Saji’s effect put Mitsurugi Ritual in his hand, and he played it to Ritual Summon from his hand. He Tributed Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa and Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi from his Deck to bring Habakiri to the field. Kusanagi put Mitsurugi Ritual in his hand, but Rodriguez had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate Aramasa. Dahl played Mitsurugi Ritual, Tributing Habakiri to bring Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi from his Deck. In a new Chain, Habakiri put Mitsurugi Mirror in his hand. He played Mirror, Tributing Murakumo to bring Habakiri back from the Graveyard. Murakumo returned to the field and put Mitsurugi Great Purification in his hand. He played Surprise to bring Marshmao back to the field, and Marshmao returned Surprise to his hand. He used Marshmao and Gravity Controller for Lollipo★Yummy Way, bringing back Marshmao and Cupsy with their effects negated. He used Cupsy for a new Snatchy, and then returned Sorrowcat to the field. He tuned that to Marshmao for a new Herald of the Arc Light. He Special Summoned K9-ØØ Lupis from his hand, and used it with Habakiri to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He Set two cards in his back row to finish this incredible turn!

Rodriguez started his turn with 14 cards in his hand thanks to Fuwalos! He began with Lightning Storm to destroy Spells and Traps. Dahl Chained Surprise, and Rodriguez Chained Forbidden Droplet, sending Lightning Storm to the Graveyard. Dahl Chained Herald, Tributing it to negate Droplet. Surprise brought Marshmao back to the field, and finally, Lightning Storm destroyed Mignon and the Set Mitsurugi Great Purification. Marshmao put Surprise in Dahl’s hand, and Herald put Habakiri in his hand. Rodriguez now activated Triple Tactics Talent to steal a monster! Dahl Chained Lollipo★Yummy Way, tagging it out for Snatchy and Cooky. Talent let Rodriguez steal Murakumo. In a new Chain, Cooky targeted Murakumo to destroy it. Rodriguez Chained the pilfered Murakumo’s effect, forcing Dahl to discard a Fuwalos to make his effect resolve and destroy Murakumo.

Rodriguez activated Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles, discarding it and Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos to Special Summon Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders from his Deck. Next, he activated Spectral, Dragon Ruler of Flickers, discarding it and another Spectral to add a Blaster and Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks to his hand. He activated Blaster’s effect, sending it and Burner to the Graveyard to target S:P Little Knight. Dahl Chained S:P Little Knight, banishing itself and Marshmao until the end of the turn. He didn’t want to target Redox and trigger its effect when banished. Rodriguez Normal Summoned Tenpai Dragon Paidra, using its effect to add Sangen Summoning to his hand. Dahl now activated Snatchy’s effect, paying 100 Life Points to Synchro Summon Cooky★Yummy Way, flipping Rodriguez’s monsters face-down. Rodriguez activated Triple Tactics Thrust, and Dahl Chained Cooky★Yummy Way’s effect to tag out, bringing in Cupsy and Cupsy★Yummy Way. Thrust put Raigeki in Rodriguez’s hand, and Cupsy let Dahl draw a card. Raigeki wiped out Dahl’s monsters! Rodriguez Set a card in his back row to finish, and in the End Phase, S:P Little Knight and Marshmao returned to the field.

Dahl used Mignon’s effect in the Graveyard, returning two copies of Snatchy to the Extra Deck to put his Field Spell on the bottom of his Deck. He used Marshmao to Link Summon Snatchy, and Rodriguez flipped up Forbidden Droplet, sending Paidra to the Graveyard to negate Snatchy. Dahl played Surprise to Special Summon Cupsy from the Graveyard, and its effect put Mignon in his hand. Rodriguez activated Droll & Lock Bird. Dahl played Mignon, and used it to bring Marshmao back to the field. Marshmao put Surprise in his hand. Dahl used Cupsy and Snatchy to Synchro Summon Lollipo★Yummy Way, reviving Cupsy and Cooky with their effects negated. He used Cupsy for another Snatchy, and moved to the Battle Phase. At the start of the Battle Phase, he banished Great Purification from his Graveyard for its effect to Special Summon Murakumo and Tribute S:P Little Knight. Murakumo’s effect destroyed Rodriguez’s Redox, leaving a clear path for his monsters to attack. Thanks to the ATK boost from Yummyusment☆Mignon, he sent everything to end the first Duel!

Duel 2

Rodriguez played first in this Duel. He Set two cards in his back row.

Dahl Special Summoned Marshmao from his hand, and Link Summoned Snatchy. Its effect activated to get a Field Spell, and Rodriguez Chained Bystial Druiswurm to banish Marshmao and Special Summon the Dragon. Snatchy put Mignon on the field. He Normal Summoned another Marshmao, and Synchro Summoned Cupsy★Yummy Way. It put Cupsy and Cooky in his hand, and he discarded Mitsurugi Great Purification. He Special Summoned Cupsy, which added Surprise to his hand. He Special Summoned Cooky, using its effect to low Druiswurm’s ATK by 1000. He then used Cupsy and Cupsy★Yummy Way to Synchro Summon Sorrowcat. He used that and Cooky to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light. He used Herald to Link Summon Gravity Controller, and Herald put Habakiri in his hand.

Dahl used Habakiri’s effect to Special Summon and Tribute Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji. Saji put Mitsurugi Ritual in his hand. He played it to Ritual Summon Habakiri from his hand, Tributing Kusanagi and Aramasa from his Deck. Aramasa added Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi to his hand, and Kusanagi returned Mitsurugi Ritual to his hand. He played Mitsurugi Ritual again, Tributing Habakiri to bring Murakumo to the field. Murakumo’s effect destroyed Druiswurm, and Habakiri returned to the field and put Mitsurugi Prayers  in his hand. Rodriguez used Druiswurm’s effect, targeting Murakumo. Dahl responded with Great Purification in the Graveyard, targeting Kusanagi. Rodriguez Chained Super Polymerization, discarding Raigeki, to fuse Habakiri and Murakumo into Garura, Wings of Resonant Life! Purification returned Kusanagi to the field and Tributed Gravity Controller. He played Prayers, Tributing Futsu from his hand to add a Habakiri to his hand, then took 800 damage to revive Murakumo. Futsu’s effect put Mitsurugi Mirror in his hand. He played the Mirror, Tributing Murakumo to bring Futsu from the Graveyard. He activated Murakumo’s effect in the Graveyard, and Rodriguez Chained Bystial Baldrake to banish Murakumo! Murakumo’s effect still resolved and put a backup Prayers in his hand. Since Baldrake was Special Summoned, Futsu’s effect then let Dahl Special Summon Habakiri from the Graveyard.

Finally, he moved to the Battle Phase, sending Habakiri to destroy Baldrake in battle. In Main Phase 2, Dahl played Surprise to Special Summon Marshmao, which put Surprise back in his hand. He Special Summoned Sorrowcat from the Graveyard by returning Herald of the Arc Light to his Extra Deck. He tuned Sorrowcat to Marshmao for Herald. He used Kusanagi and Habakiri to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He Set three cards in his back row to finish the turn.

Rodriguez activated Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms’s effect to Special Summon it, banishing Baldrake and Druiswurm from his Graveyard. Dahl responded with S:P Little Knight, banishing itself and Rodriguez’s Garura. When Tempest hit the field, Futsu revived Habakiri. Rodriguez went to the Battle Phase, sending Tempest to attack Herald of the Arc Light. Herald’s effect put a Habakiri in Dahl’s hand. Still in the Battle Phase, Rodriguez activated Sangen Kaimen to find and Special Summon Tenpai Dragon Genroku. Futsu brought Kusanagi to Dahl’s field, and Genroku brought Tenpai Dragon Chundra to the field. Dahl’s Kusanagi added the banished Murakumo to Dahl’s hand. Chundra attacked Futsu, and Dahl flipped Infinite Impermanence! With Chundra’s effects shut down, it was unable to bring Tenpai Dragon Fadra into play to protect it, and it lost the battle against Futsu. That left Rodriguez with no further plays, and he conceded the Match.
