NAWCQ Round 10 Feature Match: Carl Manigat vs. Jackson Blew

Carl Manigat from Elmont, New York and Jackson Blew from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania both finished Day 1 of the North America WCQ with 7-2 records and advanced to Day 2. Now, they’re facing off in this Round 10 Feature Match! Manigat is using a Ryzeal Deck that doesn’t rely on any other archetypes, while Blew is using an Atlantean Mermail Deck. A victory in this round will bring one of these Duelists closer to a Top Cut finish. It’s time to Duel!

 

Duel One

Blew started off Duel 1 by Special Summoning Mermail Abyssteus from his hand by discarding Atlantean Dragoons.

 

 

He activated the effects of Abyssteus and Dragoons to add Deep Sea Minstrel and Abyssrhine, the Atlantean Spirit to his hand, and Manigat activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Next, Blew activated the effect of Deep Sea Minstrel by discarding Mermail Shadow Squad. He revealed Manigat’s hand of 2 copies of Ice Ryzeal, Seventh Tachyon, and Nemeses Flag, and chose to banish Ice Ryzeal. He Special Summoned Mermail Abysspike from his Deck with the effect of Shadow Squad and then Tributed Abyssrhine from his hand and Abyssteus from his field to Special Summon Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth. He discarded Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince to activate the Coelacanth’s effect and Special Summon Gluttonous Reptolphin Greethys, Friller Rabca, and Mermail Abysspike from his Deck. He sent Greethys and an Abysspike to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon White Aura Monoceros and used its effect to Special Summon Greethys from his Graveyard. He used Greethys and Rabca to Xyz Summon LeVirtue Dragon and then detached an Xyz Material from it to add Abyssteus from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he combined Monoceros with Coelacanth to Xyz Summon Abysstrite, the Atlantean Spirit. He used its effect to Special Summon Greethys back from the Graveyard. Next, he used Abysstrite as an Xyz Material to Summon Poseidra Abyss, the Atlantean Dragon Lord. He sent Greethys and Abysspike to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Deep Sea Prima Donna and then sent LeVirtue and Poseidra to the Graveyard to Link Summon Marincess Coral Anemone. He used Poseidra Abyss’s effect and discarded a card to Special Summon Rabca, Greethys, and Neptabyss from his Graveyard. He sent Neptabyss and Prima Donna to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Adamancipator Risen – Dragite. He used his Prima Donna’s effect to return the banished Ice to Manigat’s Deck. Next, he used Coral Anemone’s effect to Special Summon Prima Donna and then used Prima Donna and Rabca to Synchro Summon Icejade Gymir Aegirine. Next he used Greethys’s effect to Special Summon Neptabyss from his Graveyard. He sent Coral Anemone and Greethys to the Graveyard to Link Summon Mermail King – Neptabyss and then Normal Summoned Barrier Statue of the Torrent!

 

Manigat drew Ryzeal Cross and conceded, unable to fight through Blew’s field.

Duel Two

Manigat opened up Duel 2 with PSY-Framegear Gamma, Sales Ban, Artifact Lancea, Droll & Lock Bird, and Surfacing Big Jaws.

 

 

In his Standby Phase, Blew activated the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia and Manigat Chained his Gamma’s effect to negate its activation and then Special Summon the Gamma along with a PSY-Frame Driver from his Deck. He Tuned them together to Synchro Summon PSY-Framelord Omega and used its effect to banish a Poseidra, the Storming Atlantean from Blew’s hand until Manigat’s next Standby Phase. Manigat activated Sales Ban declaring Dominus Impulse and then Special Summoned Surfacing Big Jaws. He added Drake Shark to his hand with its effect and Special Summoned it. Next, he used Big Jaws and Drake Shark as Xyz Materials to Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive and used its effect to add Ice Ryzeal and Sword Ryzeal to his hand by detaching 2 Xyz Materials. He Normal Summoned Ice and used its effect to Special Summon Star Ryzeal from his Deck, then used Star’s effect to Set Ryzeal Cross from his Deck. He combined Star with Ice to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator and attached PSY-Frame Driver from his Graveyard to it as an Xyz Material. He Special Summoned Sword from his hand next, and used its effect to add Ext Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Ext by sending Vallon, the Super Psy Skyblaster from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and then used Ext’s effect to add Node Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He combined Ext with Sword to Xyz Summon Infernal Flame Banshee and used its effect to add Nemeses Flag from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Node from his hand and used its effect to send the Banshee to his Graveyard and Special Summon Sword. Next, he returned his banished Omega to his Extra Deck to Special Summon Nemeses Flag and used its effect to add Archnemeses Protos from his Deck to his hand. He combined Node with Sword to Xyz Summon Number 103: Ragnazero and then banished Banshee, Gamma, and Big Jaws from his Graveyard to Special Summon Protos. He declared “WATER” with its effect, destroying Ragnazero and preventing Blew from Special Summoning WATER monsters on his next turn. He returned 2 cards from his Graveyard to his Deck to draw a card with the effect of Ryzeal Cross and then ended his turn.

Duel Three

Blew went first in Duel 3 and Manigat activated the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia in the Standby Phase. Blew Normal Summoned Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince, allowing Manigat to draw a card, and then sent Dragoons from his Deck to his Graveyard to add Abyssrhine from his Deck to his hand. He activated Dragoons’s effect, but Manigat Chained Droll & Lock Bird so that neither player would be able to add any more cards from the Deck to the hand during the turn. Blew activated Triple Tactics Talent to reveal Manigat’s hand of Node Ryzeal, Mulcharmy Meowls, Sword Ryzeal, and Droll & Lock Bird, and he sent Sword Ryzeal back to Manigat’s Deck. Blew activated Abyssrhine’s effect by sending Neptabyss and the Abyssrhine to the Graveyard and Special Summoned Coelacanth from his Deck. He used Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince’s effect to Special Summon Dragoons from his Graveyard and then discarded a Droll & Lock Bird to use Coelacanth’s effect. He Special Summoned Silent Wobby, Greethys, and Friller Rabca from his Deck and then sent Greethys and Wobby to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon White Aura Monoceros. He used its effect to Special Summon Greethys and then combined Greethys with Rabca to Xyz Summon LeVirtue Dragon. He used LeVirtue Dragon’s effect to add Silent Wobby from his Graveyard to his hand and then Special Summoned the Wobby to Manigat’s field. Next, he Xyz Summoned Abysstrite, the Atlantean Spirit and used its effect to Special Summon Greethys from his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned Poseidra Abyss over Abysstrite next and then activated its effect to send a Barrier Statue of the Torrent from his Deck to his Graveyard and return Silent Wobby from Manigat’s field to the hand. He sent 3 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Mermail King – Neptabyss and then activated the effect of Poseidra by discarding a card from his hand. He Special Summoned Greethys, Rabca, and Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince from his Graveyard and then used his Mermail King’s effect to equip it with Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi from his Deck. He used Greethys’s effect to Special Summon Abyssrhine from his Graveyard and then sent Greethys and Dragoons to his Graveyard to Synchro Summon Deep Sea Prima Donna. He sent Abyssrhine and Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince to the Graveyard next to Link Summon Marincess Coral Anemone. He used Coral Anemone’s effect to Special Summon his Barrier Statue from the Graveyard and then Tuned Prima Donna with Rabca to Synchro Summon Icejade Gymir Aegirine.

 

 

Manigat drew another Droll & Lock Bird next turn and conceded, unable to take down Blew’s field.
