
NAWCQ Round 5 Feature Match: Synjyn Biluan vs. Kazuma Yamamoto
Synjyn Biluan from Winnipeg, Manitoba and Kazuma Yamamoto from Madison, Wisconsin are both currently 4-0 in the 2025 North America World Championship Qualifier. Now, they’re facing off in this Round 5 Feature Match! Biluan is using a Millennium Fiendsmith Orcust Deck with new cards from Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem, while Yamamoto is using a Bystial Maliss Deck. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Yamamoto started off Duel 1 by Normal Summoning Maliss <P> Chessy Cat.
He activated its effect but lost out to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Yamamoto sent Chessy Cat to the Graveyard to Link Summon Linguriboh and then activated the effect of Maliss <P> March Hare in his hand. He banished Chessy Cat from his Graveyard to Special Summon March Hare and then paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon his banished Chessy Cat. He sent all 3 of his monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Red Ransom and used its effect to add Maliss in the Mirror from his Deck to his hand. Biluan activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird in his hand. Next, Yamamoto activated Maliss in Underground to banish Maliss <P> Dormouse from his Deck and paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it from banishment with its effect. He activated Dormouse’s effect on the field to banish Maliss <P> White Rabbit from his Deck and paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon the White Rabbit. He used Rabbit’s on-field effect to Set Maliss <C> MTP-07 from his Deck to his field. He sent all 3 of his monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter and then activated the effect of Bystial Saronir in his hand by targeting the Red Ransom in his Graveyard. He banished Red Ransom to Summon Saronir and then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon Red Ransom and banish March Hare from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to return March Hare to his hand with its effect. Next, Yamamoto sent all of his monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> White Binder and activated its effect to banish Dormouse, Chessy Cat, and Hearts Crypter from his Graveyard. He paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon the Hearts Crypter back to his field. He sent White Binder and Hearts Crypter to the Graveyard next and Link Summoned Topologic Bomber Dragon. He Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.
Biluan drew Called by the Grave and added it to his hand of Fabled Lurrie, Orcust Cymbal Skeleton, and Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight. He Normal Summoned Girsu and activated its effect to send Orcust Knightmare from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used Girsu’s effect to Special Summon a World Legacy Token to each player’s field. Next, Yamamoto activated the effect of the March Hare in his hand. He Special Summoned it by banishing White Binder from his Graveyard and then used White Binder’s effect to Special Summon it linked to Bomber Dragon. He activated the effects of Bomber Dragon and White Binder as Chain Links 1 and 2 respectively, targeting March Hare, Hearts Crypter, and Orcust Knightmare for banishment. Biluan Chained Called by the Grave to banish the Hearts Crypter, and the remaining 2 cards were banished before Topologic Bomber Dragon cleared the Main Monster Zones. In a new Chain, Yamamoto paid 300 Life Points to return March Hare from banishment to his hand. With only a Fabled Lurrie and Orcust Cymbal Skeleton in his hand, Biluan conceded.

Duel Two
Biluan opened up Duel 2 with Orcust Cymbal Skeleton, Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight, Droll & Lock bird, Fiendsmith Engraver, and Fiendsmith’s Tract.
He Normal Summoned Girsu and activated its effect to send Orcust Harp Horror from his Deck to his Graveyard. He then used Girsu’s effect to Special Summon a World Legacy Token to each player’s field. He sent the Token to the Graveyard to Link Summon Galatea-I, the Orcust Automaton and then sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven. He sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem and then Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears from his Deck. He activated Lacrima’s effect to send Engraver from his Deck to his Graveyard and then equipped his Lacrima with the Requiem in the Graveyard. He sent Lacrima and Requiem to the Graveyard to Summon Necroquip Princess and then Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard by sending Moon of the Closed Heaven from his Graveyard to his Deck. Yamamoto activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being! He Special Summoned Nibiru to his own field and a Primal Being Token to Biluan’s field with 3800 ATK and 4400 DEF. Next, Biluan activated Tract to add Fabled Lurrie from his Deck to his hand and discarded the Lurrie. He used the Lurrie’s effect to Special Summon it and then sent Lurrie and Nibiru to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. He activated Sequence’s effect, and Yamamoto Chained his Bystial Druiswurm’s effect in the hand to banish Engraver from Biluan’s Graveyard. That left Biluan with nothing he could Fusion Summon! Next, Biluan banished Harp Horror from his Graveyard to activate its effect, but lost out to Yamamoto’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Biluan Special Summoned Galatea-I from his Graveyard next by banishing Girsu from his Graveyard. He activated Galatea-I’s effect by sending Cymbal Skeleton from his hand to his Graveyard and added Orcustrated Babel from his Deck to his hand. He activated it and then sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. He activated its effect by sending Harp Horror from banishment to his Deck and Set Orcust Crescendo from his Deck to his field. Next, he banished Cymbal Skeleton from his Graveyard to Special Summon Galatea-I with Cymbal Skeleton’s effect and then used Galatea as an Xyz Material to Summon Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star. He activated its effect to attach Cymbal Skeleton from banishment as an Xyz Material, then used his 2 monsters as Link Materials to Summon S:P Little Knight. He used Little Knight’s effect to banish Druiswurm from Yamamoto’s field and then ended his turn.
Yamamoto drew a card and Biluan activated Lacrima’s effect in the Standby Phase. He returned it from his Graveyard to his Deck to Special Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem from his Graveyard. Yamato tried to leave his Main Phase and enter his Battle Phase, but before he could, Biluan activated Requiem’s effect to Special Summon Lacrima from his Deck, and used Lacrima’s effect to send Fiendsmith in Paradise from his Deck to his Graveyard. Yamamoto entered his Battle Phase next, and Biluan banished Cymbal Skeleton from his Graveyard to Special Summon Dingirsu from his Graveyard to his field. He activated its effect to send Nibiru to the Graveyard. Next, he tried to Special Summon Galatea-I from his Graveyard by banishing Galatea, but Yamamoto Chained Bystial Baldrake from his hand and Special Summoned it by banishing the Galatea-I. Biluan activated the effect of Fiendsmith in Paradise by banishing it from the Graveyard to send Fiendsmith’s Desirae from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He returned Requiem from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck to send Baldrake to the Graveyard with Desirae’s effect. Next, Yamamoto activated Maliss in Underground and used its effect to banish Dormouse from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it and then used Dormouse’s effect to banish Chessy Cat. He paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon Chessy Cat and then used its effect to banish March Hare from his hand and draw 2 cards. Yamamoto paid 300 Life Points to activate the banished March Hare’s effect and Biluan Chained Droll & Lock Bird’s effect. Yamamoto Normal Summoned White Rabbit next and then sent all 3 of his monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon White Binder. He activated its effect targeting Fiendsmith’s Desirae, White Rabbit, and Chessy Cat for banishment, and then activated the effect of White Rabbit by paying 300 Life Points to Special Summon it. He sent White Rabbit and White Binder to the Graveyard to Link Summon Accesscode Talker and used its effect to gain 3000 ATK. Then he banished White Binder from his Graveyard to destroy Little Knight with Accesscode’s effect and followed up by using White Binder’s effect. He paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon it and used its effect to Set Maliss <C> MTP-07 from his Deck to his field. Next, he sent White Binder and Accesscode to the Graveyard to Link Summon Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloom and used its effect to Special Summon S:P Little Knight from Biluan’s Graveyard. Yamamoto activated the effect of March Hare in his hand to Special Summon it by banishing Dormouse from his Graveyard and then sent March Hare, Dharc, and Little Knight to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hearts Crypter. He activated its effect and returned his banished Dormouse to the Deck to banish Orcustrated Babel.
Biluan drew an Ash Blossom and Yamamoto activated Hearts Crypter’s effect in the Standby Phase to banish Orcust Crescendo by returning Chessy Cat from banishment to his Deck. He entered his Battle Phase and Yamamoto flipped MTP-07, but lost out on its effect to Ash Blossom. Next, he attacked Hearts Crypter with Dingirsu to destroy it in battle. In Main Phase 2 he Tributed Dingirsu to Summon Fiendsmith Engraver and sent Lacrima and Engraver to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Chaos Angel. He used its effect to banish Maliss in Underground and then Special Summoned an Engraver back from his Graveyard with its effect.
Yamamoto Normal Summoned Dormouse and activated its effect to banish March Hare from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to return March Hare to his hand and then Special Summoned it by banishing White Binder from his Graveyard. He paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon White Binder and activated its effect to banish Hearts Crypter and Rabbit from his own Graveyard, and target the Lacrima in Biluan’s Graveyard. Biluan Chained Lacrima’s effect to Special Summon a Sequence by returning Lacrima to the Deck. Yamamoto Special Summoned Hearts Crypter with its Attack Points doubled thanks to its effect and Special Summoned the Rabbit. He then Link Summoned Allied Code Talker @Ignister by sending 2 monsters to the Graveyard. Next, he Special Summoned Backup @Ignister from his hand and used its effect to add Wizard @Ignister from his Deck to his hand and discard another Backup @Ignister. He used his Wizard’s effect to Special Summon the Wizard from his hand and Dormouse from his Graveyard. He Link Summoned Splash Mage next and used its effect to Special Summon Dormouse. Next, he sent Splash Mage and Dormouse to the Graveyard to Link Summon Red Ransom and used its effect to add Maliss in the Mirror from his Deck to his hand. He used Wizard’s effect to switch Engraver into Attack Position. He attacked Chaos Angel with Hearts Crypter to destroy it, and then Red Ransom attacked Sequence to destroy it. Next, he activated Maliss in the Mirror to negate Engraver’s effect and banish his Red Ransom. He Special Summoned it back to the field and banished Chessy Cat from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon Chessy Cat and then Red Ransom attacked Engraver. Attacks from Yamamoto’s remaining monsters wiped out the rest of Biluan’s Life Points!
