We’re in Round 4 with a Machine Mirror Match! We have Alex Mondlak, from Columbus, OH, playing Cyber Dragons with the newest cards from Alliance Insight! He’s facing Destin Encardes, from Lawrenceville, GA, playing Drytron! Both of these Duelists are using Cyber Emergency, but for very different goals.

Duel 1

Mondlak won the dice roll and chose to play first. He had two copies of Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Droll & Lock Bird, Cyber Emergency, and Power Bond. He began with Cyber Emergency, and Encardes was barely able to hide his surprise at seeing another Duelist use the card. Emergency added Cyber Dragon Core to Mondlak’s hand. He Normal Summoned Core, which put Cyberdark Realm in his hand. He activated that to add Cyberdark Chimera to his hand. With Realm he got an additional Normal Summon, and played Chimera. He used it to Link Summon Clockwork Knight. Clockwork Knight sent Realm to the Graveyard to put Clockwork Night in his hand, and Chimera’s effect sent Cyberdark Wurm to the Graveyard. Wurm’s effect sent Cyber Dragon Herz to the Graveyard, returning Wurm to the field while adding another Cyber Emergency to his hand. Herz then put Cyber Dragon in his hand. He Set Clockwork Night, then played Power Bond to fuse Core and Cyber Dragon into Chimeratech Rampage Dragon. It destroyed Clockwork Night, which let him discard Fuwalos and add Therion “King” Regulus to his hand. Rampage sent Cyber Jormungardr and Cyber Dragon Nachster to the Graveyard. He then stacked Rampage and Cyberdark Wurm for Cyber Dragon Nova, which Special Summoned Nachster from the Graveyard. Nachster brought Cyber Dragon to the field. Mondlak used Nova to play Cyber Dragon Infinity! Then he used Clockwork Knight, putting Nachster in the Graveyard to bring Wurm back. He used Wurm and Cyber Dragon to Xyz Summon Chronomally Vimana! He Special Summoned Regulus, equipping it with Herz. In the End Phase, Mondlak took 2100 damage from Power Bond.

Encardes started… with Cyber Emergency as well! Now it was Mondlak’s turn to be surprised, as Encardes added Drytron Alpha Thuban to his hand. Encardes followed that with Forbidden Droplet! He sent Alpha Thuban, Drytron Zeta Aldhibah, and Drytron Meteonis Draconids to the Graveyard, negating Regulus, Vimana, and Infinity! Encardes played Drytron Nova to Special Summon Drytron Nu II. He Tributed Nu II for Zeta Aldhibah’s effect, adding Meteonis Drytron to the hand as well. Mondlak activated Droll & Lock Bird. Encardes activated Nu II, bringing it back to the field. He played Meteonis Drytron, using both monsters to Ritual Summon Draconids from the Graveyard. It attacked Vimana, then attacked Clockwork Knight to end the Match!

Duel 2

Mondlak chose to play second this time, now knowing the matchup. He opened with a hand of Mulcharmy Meowls, Cyber Dragon Core, Cyber Jormungardr, and two copies of Cyberdark Realm.

Encardes began by Setting two back row cards.

Mondlak drew Mulcharmy Fuwalos. He Normal Summoned Core, and Encardes flipped Droplet sending Alpha Thuban to the Graveyard. Mondlak played Realm to add Cyberdark Chimera to the hand, and Normal Summoned it thanks to Realm. He used Core to Link Summon Clockwork Knight, sending Cyberdark Realm to the Graveyard to add Clockwork Night to his hand. He used Chimera’s effect, sending Clockwork Night to the Graveyard to find Power Bond. He used Chimera and Clockwork Knight to play Platinum Gadget, and Chimera put Cyberdark Wurm in the Graveyard. He activated the Graveyard effect of Clockwork Night, discarding Jormungardr to put Regulus in his hand. He Special Summoned Regulus, equipping it with Clockwork Knight. He activated Wurm’s effect, sending Herz to the Graveyard, Special Summoning Wurm, and adding Realm from the Graveyard to his hand. Herz then put Cyber Dragon in his hand. He played Power Bond, fusing Herz and Core from the Graveyard (thanks to Chimera), into Chimeratech Rampage Dragon with double the ATK! Its effect destroyed a second Set Droplet that couldn’t be activated, guaranteeing that it could end the Match here!

Duel 3

Mondlak began the final Duel with Cyber Emergency, Cyberdark Claw, Clockwork Night, Cyber Dragon Core, and Polymerization.

Encardes chose to play first, and began with Foolish Burial sending Zeta Aldhibah to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned it, Tributing Alpha Thuban from the hand, and added Meteonis Drytron to his hand. He activated Drytron Fafnir, adding Drytron Nova to the hand. He used Alpha Thuban’s effect, Tributing Drytron Gamma Eltanin and adding Drytron Meteonis DA Draconids to the hand. He used Alpha and Zeta to Xyz Summon Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir. It sent Drytron Delta Altais to the Graveyard. He used Delta, Tributing DA Draconids, and it let him draw a card. He activated Meteonis Drytron, Tributing Mu Beta Fafnir and its materials to bring DA Draconids to the field from the Graveyard. He returned Meteonis Drytron to the hand. He played Nova to Special Summon Nu II, and Nu II put Ultimate Bright Night Ursatron Alpha in his hand. He Special Summoned Ursatron, putting another Nova in the hand. He Tributed Nu II to activate Gamma, which brought Alpha to the field as well. He used Alpha and Ursatron to Link Summon I:P Masquerena. He Special Summoned Nu II from the Graveyard, then used it and Delta to Link Summon Lyrulisc – Assembled Nightingale in Defense Position.

Mondlak drew Cyberdark Wurm. He started with Cyber Emergency, and Encardes Chained Assembled Nightingale to prevent any battle damage this turn. Emergency put Cyber Jormungardr in Mondlak’s hand, and Encardes had Droll & Lock Bird! Mondlak activated Jormungardr’s effect, and it was negated by DA Draconids. Mondlak Set Cyber Dragon Core. When Encardes didn’t respond, Mondlak was able to fuse Core and I:P Masquerena into Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon! He then activated Cyberdark Wurm, sending Cyber Dragon Herz to the Graveyard, but Wurm was negated and destroyed by DA Draconids. The sent Herz returned Cyber Dragon Core from the Graveyard to the hand (since Core counts as Cyber Dragon in the Graveyard). Mondlak played Clockwork Night, then sent Megafleet to destroy Gamma in battle. He Set Polymerization to finish the turn.

Encardes played Jack-In-The-Hand! Mondlak put Gamma in his own hand, and Encardes put Alpha in his hand. He Tributed Alpha to activate Gamma from the Graveyard, bringing both Gamma and Alpha to the field. He Xyz Summoned Mu Beta Fafnir, then Special Summoned Nu II to add Zeta to his hand. He Tributed Zeta for the Alpha in his Graveyard, adding Draconids to his hand. He used Alpha to Link Summon Relinquished Anima, then Tributed Draconids to bring Zeta from the Graveyard. He played Meteonis Draconids, using Zeta and one of Fafnir’s materials for Draconids. He sent his monsters to attack, taking out Mondlak’s Life Points in one turn!
