Top 16 Feature Match: Pascal Manigat vs. Jarred Randolph

Over 1400 Duelists have been eliminated, leaving only the Top 16! Hailing from New York, we have Pascal Manigat using a Goblin Memento Deck! He’s facing Delaware Duelist Jarred Randolph, using Bystial Maliss! It’s ancient monsters reimagined versus the newest in malicious Dueling software – who will move on to the Top 8?

Duel 1

Manigat began with a hand of Goblin Biker Grand Breakout, Pot of Prosperity, Mementotlan Shleepy, Mementotlan Bone Party, and Forbidden Droplet.

Randolph won the dice roll and played first. He played Gold Sarcophagus to banish Maliss <P> Dormouse, and paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it. He activated Dormouse’s effect to banish Maliss <P> Chessy Cat from the Deck, and paid another 300 Life Points to Special Summon that. He activated its effect, banishing Maliss <P> White Rabbit from the hand to draw two new cards. Then he Special Summoned White Rabbit, and its effect Set Maliss <C> TB-11 on the field. He used Dormouse to Link Summon Link Decoder, then used all his monsters to Link Summon Maliss <Q> White Binder. Link Decoder returned to the field, and White Binder banished Dormouse and Chessy Cat from the Graveyard. White Binder then Set Maliss <C> GWC-06 on the field. He flipped TB-11 by banishing White Binder, and the trap Special Summoned White Rabbit. He paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon White Binder and draw a card. He activated Bystial Magnamhut, banishing White Rabbit from his Graveyard to Special Summon the Dragon, and then activated its effect on the field. He used Link Decoder, White Rabbit, and Magnamhut to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Red Ransom. Its effect put Maliss in Underground in his hand. He activated GWC-06 by banishing Red Ransom, which brought Chessy Cat to the field and gave him 1500 Life Points. Then, he paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon the banished Red Ransom. He used White Binder and Chessy Cat to Link Summon Knightmare Gryphon co-linked to Red Ransom. Its effect let him discard a Chessy Cat to Set GWC-06 and draw a card. He used both his Link Monsters to Link Summon A Bao A Qu, the Lightless Shadow. He used its effect, discarding Maliss in Underground to temporarily banish A Bao A Qu and bring Gryphon back to the field. He Set two back row cards, and A Bao A Qu returned to the field.

Jarred Randolph

Manigat drew Mementomictlan. He led with Pot of Prosperity, banishing six cards. It revealed his Memento and Goblin cards, and he took Mementotlan Angwitch. He Normal Summoned it, and its effect put Mementotlan Tatsunootoshigo in his hand. He activated Forbidden Droplet, sending Mementomictlan and Angwitch to the Graveyard to negate Randolph’s monsters. Then he Special Summoned Tatsunootoshigo, and Randolph turned it face-down with Book of Eclipse. Manigat played Goblin Biker Grand Breakout, Tributing Tatsunootoshigo to Special Summon Mementotlan Goblin. Randolph flipped GWC-06 to revive White Binder and gain 2300 Life Points. White Binder banished the monsters from Manigat’s Graveyard, plus Red Ransom from his own Graveyard. He then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon Red Ransom. Its effect banished White Rabbit. He Special Summoned White Rabbit, which Set Maliss <C> MTP-07. He flipped it immediately, banishing White Rabbit. That let him add Dormouse to his hand while banishing Manigat’s Goblin. Manigat played Bone Party, and Randolph flipped Dominuse Impulse! Randolph had nothing but Shleepy left in hand, with Randolph’s full field of monsters!

Duel 2

Manigat had a hand of Mementomictlan, Mementotlan Akihiron, Pot of Prosperity, Mementoal Tecuhtlica – Combined Creation, and Speedroid Terrortop. In the Draw Phase, Randolph activated Dimension Shifter! Manigat Special Summoned Terrortop, which got Speedroid Taketomborg in the hand. He Special Summoned it, and Xyz Summoned Goblin Biker Big Gabonga, which put Goblin Biker Dugg Charger in Manigat’s hand. He Special Summoned Dugg Charger to put Goblin Biker Grand Entrance in hand, and used that to bring out another Dugg Charger. He stacked the Duggs for Xyz Armor Torpedo. Then, he used Gabonga and Torpedo for Number F0: Utopic Future, and that for Number F0: Utopic Draco Future! He played Prosperity, banishing 6 cards to add a Mementotlan Fusion to his hand.

Randolph started with Allure of Darkness, banishing Bystial Baldrake from his hand. He Normal Summoned White Rabbit, and Manigat used Utopic Draco Future to negate it and gain control of it. Randolph played Gold Sarcophagus to banish Dormouse from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it, and used its effect to banish Chessy Cat. He Special Summoned that as well. He banished the Dimension Shifter in his Graveyard to Special Summon a Baldrake from his hand, then used all his monsters to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter. It attacked and destroyed White Rabbit. When White Rabbit was banished by the lingering effect of Dimension Shifter, Randolph Special Summoned it. Then he used Hearts Crypter’s effect to banish Utopic Draco Future. White Rabbit attacked directly. In Main Phase 2, Randolph used both monsters to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon Hearts Crypter with its ATK doubled.

Manigat drew Mementotlan Dark Blade. He Normal Summoned it, and Randolph didn’t hesitate to activate Hearts Crypter’s effect and banish it. Manigat then played Mementotlan Fusion, fusing Akihiron and Combined Creation into Mementotlan Twin Dragon. It attacked over Little Knight. Then, he banished Fusion from the Graveyard to destroy Twin Dragon, adding Bone Party to his hand. Twin Dragon revived Akihiron. He played Bone Party, destroying Akihiron to Special Summon Angwitch. Angwitch’s effect put Shleepy in his hand. Akihiron put Dark Blade back in the hand. He Special Summoned Shleepy, then fused it with Dark Blade and Angwitch into Mementomictlan Tecuhtlica -Creation King! Its effect sent Mementotlan Ghattic, Mementotlan Fusion, and another Creation King in the Graveyard. He Special Summoned the Ghattic, which put Mementotlan Fusion in his hand. He activated Mementomictlan. Creation King destroyed itself and Hearts Crypter. He used Mementomictlan to Special Summon Dark Blade, and he also Special Summoned Akihiron with its own effect. Dark Blade destroyed Akihiron to Special Summon Mementotlan Mace. He used Dark Blade and Ghattic to Link Summon his own S:P Little Knight. Then he used Mace’s effect, destroying it to add Mementotlan Goblin to his hand. He Special Summoned Combined Creation from the Graveyard by returning five Memento monsters to the Deck and Extra Deck! He Set Mementotlan Fusion. In the End Phase, Mementomictlan Set Bone Party on the field.

Pascal Manigat

Randolph played Lightning Storm to destroy Spells and Traps. Manigat Chained Mementotlan Fusion, then Chained Bone Party. He destroyed the Goblin in his hand to add Mace to his hand. Then, he fused two Mementos from the Graveyard into Twin Dragon. Combined Creation’s effect brought Creation King back to the field, and Twin Dragon destroyed itself to add a Goblin and Angwitch to Manigat’s hand. Then, the destroyed Twin Dragon’s effect let Manigat Special Summon Angwitch, which put Tatsunootoshigo in his hand. Randolph moved to the Battle Phase, and Special Summoned Bystial Druiswurm, banishing his Hearts Crypter. Then he paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon Hearts Crypter with double the ATK! Hearts Crypter attacked Little Knight, and Manigat used Creation King’s effect. Randolph Chained Hearts Crypter to banish a monster, and Manigat Chained Little Knight to banish itself and Combined Creation. Creation King destroyed itself and Angwitch, then destroyed both of Randolph’s monsters. Akihiron returned to the field.

In Main Phase 2, Randolph Normal Summoned Dormouse, banishing White Rabbit. He Special Summoned White Rabbit, which put GWC-06 on the field. He used both monsters to Link Summon Splash Mage, which revived Dormouse. He then Link Summoned White Binder. With its effect, he banished Creation King, Mementotlan Fusion, and White Rabbit from the Graveyards. White Binder’s other effect then put TB-11 on the field. He activated it by banishing White Binder, and Special Summoned Chessy Cat. Then he paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon White Binder and draw a card. He used White Binder and Chessy Cat to Link Summon Accesscode Talker, and it destroyed Akihiron. Akihiron’s effect put Bone Party in Manigat’s hand. Randolph Set a monster. In the End Phase, Little Knight and Combined Creation returned to Manigat’s side.

Manigat drew Artifact Lancea. He Normal Summoned Mace, using its effect to exchange it for a Mementotlan Fusion. Akihiron returned to the field yet again, and its effect allowed Level 9 and higher Memento monsters to attack directly this turn. He summoned Goblin, using it to destroy Akihiron and send both Dark Blade and Ghattic to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Ghattic. He tried using Mementotlan Fusion, and Randolph flipped Dominus Impulse. Manigat used Combined Creation to revive Dark Blade. He used that to discard the Tatsunootoshigo in his hand and target GWC-06. Randolph Chained it to revive White Binder and gain 2300 Life Points. White Binder then banished TB-11, Chessy Cat, and Hearts Crypter from the Graveyard. He paid 1200 total Life Points to Special Summon both Maliss monsters. Dark Blade destroyed Ghattic to Special Summon Angwitch. That put a Goblin in his hand. He moved to the Battle Phase with just under 5 minutes on the clock. Combined Creation attacked directly thanks to Akihiron. Randolph responded with the effect of Hearts Crypter, and Manigat Chained Bone Party to destroy Combined Creation. Hearts Crypter’s effect banished Dark Blade. Manigat then Special Summoned the Shleepy in his hand, fusing it with two more Mementos for another Creation King! Creation King sent a Bone Party and two copies of Tatsunootoshigo to the Graveyard, then attacked directly. Little Knight destroyed Chessy Cat in battle. Manigat then used Creation King to destroy everything except Little Knight! In Main Phase 2, he Special Summoned Combined Creation from the Graveyard.

Randolph drew his card, and Manigat slammed Artifact Lancea to lock in this Duel! There were two minutes remaining as the Duelists moved to their Side Decks.

Duel 3

Manigat had an opening hand of Artifact Lancea, Speedroid Terrortop, Mementotlan Goblin, Mementomictlan, and Mementotlan Mace.

Randolph played started his turn, and Manigat used Lancea’s effect. Randolph Chained Dimension Shifter just as the round timer ended. With the Life Points tied this Duel and Match would normally end in a draw. That can’t happen in Single Elimination, so Life Points will be checked at the end of each phase going forward – not the ideal position for a Maliss Deck that pays a lot of Life Points. Randolph played Triple Tactics Thrust to Set TB-11.

Manigat drew Angwitch. He Special Summoned Terrortop, which got Taketomborg. He used both monsters to Xyz Summon Goblin Biker Big Gabonga. Big Gabonga let him find Goblin Biker Dugg Charger, and he Special Summoned it. That put Grand Entrance in his hand. He Normal Summoned Angwitch, putting Shleepy in his hand. He stacked Dugg Charger and Angwitch for Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow. He attacked directly with Big Gabonga, and Randolph flipped TB-11 to Special Summon White Rabbit in Defense Position. Big Gabonga attacked White Rabbit, and Randolph activated Bystial Druiswurm to try and defend his Life Points. Druiswurm got bamboozled by Number 75, changing the effect to give each Duelist a card instead. Big Gabonga destroyed White Rabbit, which was banished due to the Dimension Shifter from last turn. Randolph paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it, knowing exactly what that would mean. When the Battle Phase ended, Manigat had higher Life Points!
