Aditya Dharap from Plano, Texas is the 2024 North America WCQ champion. Now, Kevin Zuger from Switzerland is up against North America’s reigning champion in this third place playoff Feature Match! Both Duelists lost their Top 4 Matches, but will now have one last chance to win a Super Rare Anotherverse Solaria prize card by winning this Match. Dharap is using an Atlantean Mermail Deck and Zuger is using a Ryzeal Deck. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Zuger started off Duel 1 by Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal from his hand.

He sent Eclipse Twins from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to do so and used Ext’s effect to add Node Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Sword Ryzeal from his hand next and used its effect to add Ice Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He combined Sword with Ext to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive and used its effect. He detached both Xyz Materials from it to add Ryzeal Plasma Hole and Ryzeal Cross from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Cross and then Normal Summoned Ice. He activated its effect to Special Summon Sword and then combined Ice and Sword to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator. He used Detonator’s effect to attach Eclipse Twins from his Graveyard to it as an Xyz Material and then Special Summoned Node from his hand. He used its effect by sending Duo Drive to his Graveyard, but lost out to Dharap’s Dominance Impulse. Next, Zuger activated Ryzeal Plugin to Special Summon Sword from his Graveyard and combined Sword and Node to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller. He used the effect of Cross to return Plugin and Ext from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw a card. He Set 3 cards to his back row and ended his turn.

Dharap drew Mulcharmy Fuwalos and added it to his hand of Atlantean Dragoons, 2 copies of Mermail Shadow Squad, and Mermail Abyssteus. In his Draw Phase, Zuger activated the effect of Abyss Dweller, and Dharap conceded.

Duel Two

Dharap opened up Duel 2 with 2 copies of Solemn Strike, Infinite Impermanence, Poseidra, the Storming Atlantean, and Abyssrhine, the Atlantean Spirit.

He Set both copies of Solemn Strike and ended his turn!

Zuger activated Bonfire to add Ext Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand and then Summoned it by sending Eclipse Twins from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He activated the effect of Ext, but Dharap flipped Solemn Strike and gave up 1500 Life Points to negate the effect and destroy Ext.

Dharap drew Skill Drain and then Set the Skill Drain and Infinite Impermanence.

Zuger Special Summoned another Ext by sending Number 60: Dugares the Timeless from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He activated its effect, but Dharap flipped Skill Drain by paying 1000 Life Points. The effect of Ext was negated and then Zuger Normal Summoned Mulcharmy Meowls. He combined Ext with Meowls to Xyz Summon Tornado Dragon. He attacked with the Tornado Dragon to drop Dharap down to 3400 Life Points. Zuger Set 2 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Dharap drew Mermail Abyssteus and then activated the effect of Poseidra by sending Abyssteus from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon it. He activated its effect and sent Mermail Shadow Squad from his Deck to his Graveyard as a cost. Poseidra’s effect targeted Tornado Dragon, but it was negated by the Skill Drain. Next, Shadow Squad’s effect activated, but Zuger Chained Called by the Grave to banish it and negate its effect. Poseidra attacked and destroyed Tornado Dragon, dropping Zuger down to 7300 Life Points.

Zuger Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and activated its effect, but it was negated by Skill Drain.

Dharap drew an Infinite Impermanence and then attacked Ice Ryzeal with Poseidra to destroy it.

Zuger Set a monster and passed.

Dharap drew a second Abyssrhine, the Atlantean Spirit. He activated the effect of one by Tributing it along with the second copy in his hand and Summoned Poseidra from his Deck. He activated Poseidra’s effect by sending a Shadow Squad from his Deck to his Graveyard. Poseidra’s effect was negated by Skill Drain, and Shadow Squad’s effect was negated by Zuger’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Poseidra attacked and destroyed a face-down Mulcharmy Fuwalos and then the second Poseidra attacked directly.

Zuger drew a card and conceded, unable to play through Dharap’s Skill Drain and the Poseidras on his field.

Duel Three

Zuger started off Duel 3 by Special Summoning Ext from his hand. He sent Eclipse Twins from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to do it, and then added Sword Ryzeal to his hand with the effect of Ext. He Special Summoned Sword and used Sword’s effect to add Ice Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. Dharap activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos in his hand, but lost out to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Zuger combined Sword with Ext to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive and activated its effect. He detached both Xyz Materials from it to add Ryzeal Cross and Node Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Cross and then Special Summoned Node from his hand. He used Node’s effect to send Duo Drive to his Graveyard and Special Summon Sword Ryzeal. He combined Node with Sword to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator and used Detonator’s effect to attach Eclipse Twins to it as an Xyz Material. Next, he Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and activated its effect, but Dharap negated it by activating Dominance Impulse. Zuger activated Bonfire to add Ice Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand and then sent Metaltronus from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Ice. He combined both copies of Ice Ryzeal to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller and then activated its effect by detaching an Ice. He used Cross’s effect to return an Ice and Ext from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw a card, and then activated Triple Tactics Talent to look at Dharap’s hand of Xyz Encore, Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth, and Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince, and return the Xyz Encore to Dharap’s Deck.

Dharap drew Poseidra and Zuger activated his Abyss Dweller’s effect in the Draw Phase. Dharap Special Summoned Poseidra from his hand by sending Coelacanth from his hand to his Graveyard. He activated its effect by sending Abyssrhine from his Deck to his Graveyard, targeting Detonator to return Detonator to the Extra Deck. Zuger Chained the effect of his Detonator to destroy his own Detonator. The effect of the attached Eclipse Twins activated when it was sent to the Graveyard and he Special Summoned Detonator back from his Graveyard with Duo Drive attached as an Xyz Material. Then, he used Detonator’s effect to attach Eclipse Twins from his Graveyard as an Xyz Material. Poseidra attacked and destroyed Abyss Dweller and then Dharap ended his turn.

Zuger Special Summoned Sword Ryzeal from his hand and used its effect to add Ext Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Ext by sending Evilswarm Exciton Knight from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and then combined Ext with Sword to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive. He activated its effect to attach an Ice Ryzeal to it as an Xyz Material and then activated its other effect. He detached 2 Xyz Materials from his field – 1 from Duo Drive and an Eclipse Twins from Detonator – and added Ice and Plugin from his Deck to his hand. He used the effect of Twins to Special Summon Abyss Dweller with Exciton Knight attached as an Xyz Material. Next, he used Cross to send 2 Swords back from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw a card. He Normal Summoned Ice and used Ice’s effect to Special Summon Sword from his Deck. He combined Ice with Sword to Xyz Summon Light Dragon @Ignister and used Light Dragon’s effect to destroy Poseidra. In the Main Phase, Dharap banished Abyssrhine from his Graveyard to discard Neptabyss and draw a card. Zuger used Cross’s effect to prevent the draw. Neptabyss’s effect activated to Special Summon Poseidra from the Graveyard. Dharap activated his Poseidra’s effect by sending Abyssrhine from his Deck to his Graveyard and returned Detonator to Zuger’s Extra Deck. Zuger activated Plugin to Special Summon Node and then used Node’s effect by sending Sword Ryzeal from his hand to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Sword, then combined Sword with Node to Xyz Summon another Detonator. He used its effect to attach Eclipse Twins to it as an Xyz Material and then entered his Battle Phase. He used Book of Moon to put Poseidra face-down and then attacked it with Dweller to destroy it. Direct attacks from Duo Drive, Detonator, and Light Dragon @Ignister wiped out all of Dharap’s Life Points!
