Round 7 Feature Match: Sathe Khaldi vs. Farukh Bhatti

For Round 7 we have two Duelists that are both 5-1. Sathe Khaldi is from Michigan and has topped 7 Regional Qualifiers during his Dueling career. Farukh Bhatti’s from New Jersey and recently finished in the Top 64 at the NAWCQ in Austin. Khaldi’s our lone Purrely Duelist at the Top Tables right now, and lost his undefeated streak last round to a Tenpai Duelist. Bhatti’s piloting Tenpai this weekend.

Will Sathe’s Purrely monsters be able to take down Bhatti’s Tenpais? There’s only one way to find out…

Bhatti won the dice roll and opted to go second (!) with a hand of Purrely Sleepy Memory, Nibiru, the Primal Being, Dimension Shifter, Purrelyeap!?, and Purrely.

Khaldi started the Duel by Normal Summoning Purrely and activating its effect. He revealed Dimension Shifter, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Purrely Happy Memory. He added the Happy Memory to his hand, then activated Purrely’s effect to summon an Xyz Monster. Bhatti chained Mulcharmy Fuwalos! Khaldi thought for a moment before using his Sleepy Memory to Xyz Summon Epurrely Noir! Bhatti drew a card from Fuwalos.

Khaldi then activated Purrely Happy Memory, he chained Noir’s effect and attached Happy Memory to it, then discarded Dimension Shifter to Special Summon Purrelyly from his Deck. Purrelyly’s effect activated and grabbed My Friend Purrely. He activated My Friend and revealed three copies of Stray Purrely Street. Khaldi activated the Street he grabbed, then Set 1 card and went to his End Phase.

In the End Phase, Khaldi activated Street’s effect and attached another Sleepy Memory to Noir from his Deck.

Bhatti drew for turn, and during the Standby Phase Khaldi drew for both Sleepy Memories to score a copy of Pot of Prosperity and a Purrely. He attempted to activate Purrelyeap!? but was stopped by Dominus Impulse! Bhatti then activated Lightning Storm and destroyed Khaldi’s Purrely spells, and he followed up with Terraforming to get Sangen Summoning

Khaldi, knowing what the Tenpai combos would bring about, decided to save time and concede the first Duel!

Khaldi opted to start the second Duel and started off with 2 Purrely Sleepy Memory, My Friend Purrely, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Dimensional Fissure

Khaldi activated Dimensional Fissure, then activated My Friend Purrely. He paid 500 LP and revealed 2 Purrely Delicious Memory and a Purrely Pretty Memory. He added Purrely Pretty Memory to his hand. Khaldi then activated Purrely Sleepy Memory but it was stopped by Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! He followed it up with his other Sleepy Memory but was stopped by Dominus Impulse

With only one more play left, Khaldi activated Purrely Pretty Memory and discarded Mulcharmy Fuwalos to Special Summon Purrelyly. He then activated his Purrelyly and added Purrelyeap?!. Khaldi used Purrelyly’s effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Beauty, he Set 1 card and ended his turn.

Bhatti drew for his turn and Normal Summoned Tenpai Dragon Paidra. He tried to activate its effect but Khaldi negated it with Beauty. Bhatti then tried to Special Summon Tenpai Dragon Chundra, Khaldi tried to activate Purrelyeap!? but was stopped by Dominus Impulse! Bhatti Special Summoned his Chundra and then ended his Main Phase.

Moving into the Battle Phase, Bhatti sent Paidra to attack over Beauty, Chundra attacked directly and Bhatti activated its effect to Special Summon another Paidra from his Deck! He then activated Chundra’s effect and Synchro Summoned Sangenpai Biden Dragion. Bhatti attacked with both Bident Dragion and his newly Special Summoned Tenpai Dragon Paidra. Then, he activated Paidra’s effect to Synchro Summon Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion and attacked to knock out Khaldi’s Life Points!

Just like that, Bhatti was able to wipe out all of Khaldi’s Life Points through a flurry of Tenpai Dragon plays! He’s moving on with a 6-1 record going into the final round of Day 1.
