We’re jumping into Round 3 with Bobby Kenny, from Orlando, facing off with Philadelphia Duelist Charles Goss. Kenny’s got a Centur-Ion Deck packing a bunch of engines like Fiendsmith and Millennium, while Goss is wielding the one turn KO power of Tenpai Dragons!

Duel 1

Kenny won the die roll and played first, and Goss activated Mulcharmy Purulia in the Draw Phase! Kenny Normal Summoned Centur-Ion Trudea, letting Goss draw a card. Trudea moved to the back row to put Centur-Ion Primera in his back row, and he Special Summoned Primera. It added Stand Up Centur-Ion! to his hand. He played Stand Up, then placed Golem that Guards the Millennium Treasures in his back row. He paid 2000 Life Points and Special Summoned it and added Wedju Temple to his hand. Goss activated Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Kenny played Crimson Gaia next, using it to add Vision Resonator to his hand. He used Stand Up’s effect, sending Vision Resonator to the Graveyard, and Goss Chained Bystial Magnamhut to banish the Resonator. Stand Up resolved, placing Centur-Ion Gargoyle II in his back row. Magnamhut activated in a new Chain. Kenny continued by Special Summoning Gargoyle. He used Primera and Gargoyle to Synchro Summon Centur-Ion Auxila, letting Goss draw via Fuwalos. Gargoyle returned to Kenny’s hand, and Auxila let him find Centur-Ion True Awakening. He played Emblema Oath to put Centur-Ion Atrii in his back row. He Special Summoned Atrii and it let him draw a card. Kenny Set two back row cards, and Auxila put Primera in his back row. Goss’s Magnamhut let him get Tenpai Dragon Paidra in his hand.

Goss started with Raigeki! Golem and Atrii were destroyed, but Auxila was protected by Primera’s effect. Goss played Pot of Prosperity next, banishing six cards. He added Harpie’s Feather Duster to his hand, and played it. Kenny’s Set Centur-Ion Phalanx and True Awakening were destroyed, but Auxila protected the rest. Goss Normal Summoned Paidra and Set Sangen Summoning. Kenny activated Trudea, and Chained Primera. Goss had Dominus Impulse to negate Primera! Trudea hit the field as a Level 8 monster. Goss activated Sangen Summoning, and Special Summoned Chundra from his hand. He Synchro Summoned Sangenpai Bident Dragion, and it revived Paidra. He Synchro Summoned Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion, and changed Magnamhut to Attack Position. He moved to the Battle Phase, and played Sangen Kaimen, letting him Special Summon Tenpai Dragon Chundra. Chundra attacked Trudea, and its effect let Goss Special Summon Tenpai Dragon Fadra before he took 500 damage. Magnamhut attacked Trudea next, and Fadra brought Paidra back to the field. He used Fadra and Chundra to Synchro Summon Black Rose Moonlight Dragon! Moonlight’s effect dealt with Auxila, clearing the way for Goss to end the first Duel!

Duel 2

Kenny began the second Duel with Primera, using its effect to add Stand Up to his hand. He put Golem that Guards the Millennium Treasures in his back row, paying 2000 Life Points to Special Summon it and find Wedju Temple. He played Wedju Temple, using it to place Trudea and Sengenjin Wakes from a Millennium in his back row. He paid 2000 Life Points to Special Summon Sengenjin and add another Sengenjin to his hand. He tuned Primera to Sengenjin for Auxila, adding True Awakening to his hand. He activated Stand Up, discarding Sengenjin to place Atrii in his back row, and he Special Summoned it. He used Atrii and Golem to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven, and used that to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem. Requiem Special Summoned Lacrima the Crimson Tears, which sent Fiendsmith Engraver to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Engraver, returning Moon to the Extra Deck. He Link Summoned Fiendsmith’s Sequence, using its effect to fuse Requiem and Engraver from the Graveyard into Aerial Eater. Aerial Eater sent Vision Resonator to the Graveyard, and Vision then added Crimson Gaia to his hand. He played Crimson Gaia to return Vision Resonator to his hand. He Special Summoned it, tuning it to Aerial Eater for Centur-Ion Primera Primus! Its effect put Emblema Oath in his hand, and he used that to put Gargoyle II in his back row. He Special Summoned Gargoyle, making it become Level 4. He tuned Primera Primus to Gargoyle for Centur-Ion Legatia! Gargoyle returned to the hand, and Legatia let him draw a card. He sent Trudea to the Graveyard to Special Summon Gargoyle, and Set two back row cards. In the End Phase, Legatia and Auxila put Atrii and Primera in the back row.

Goss activated Magnamhut, targeting Primera Primus. Kenny negated that with True Awakening, sending Primera to the Graveyard. Goss followed up with Raigeki to clear all the monsters, and Primera Primus returned to Kenny’s field. Goss played Sangen Summoning, but Kenny had Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy it! Goss played Pot of Prosperity, banishing six cards to add a second Raigeki to his hand. He played it, taking out Primera Primus. He went to the Battle Phase and activated Sangen Kaimen, putting Chundra in his hand and Special Summoning it. Kenny flipped Phalanx to temporarily banish Chundra. Goss Set his last card in the back row. Kenny Special Summoned Atrii and drew a card. Kenny then used Lacrima, reviving Sequence.

In Kenny’s Standby Phase, Chundra was Special Summoned back to Goss’s field.

Kenny used Sequence to Link Summon Requiem, which Special Summoned Lacrima, sending Engraver to the Graveyard. He returned Sequence to Special Summon Engraver. He equipped Requiem to Engraver, and used Engraver’s effect to take out Chundra. He used Atrii and Engraver to Synchro Summon Chaos Angel, targeting Goss’s Set Sangen Kaimen – Goss Chained it to add Tenpai Dragon Genroku to his hand, and he Special Summoned it. Kenny used Phalanx’s Graveyard effect to revive Legatia, drawing a card and destroying Genroku. Goss was left with no cards whatsoever, and knew he wasn’t coming back from this – he conceded the Duel.

Duel 3

Goss started with Heat Wave, and Chained Dimension Shifter! He Set a back row card.

Kenny activated Deck Lockdown, and Goss hit it with Solemn Judgment! Kenny Set two back row cards.

Goss Normal Summoned Chundra and moved to the Battle Phase. It attacked directly, and Kenny had Phalanx to temporarily banish Chundra.

Chundra was Special Summoned during Kenny’s Standby Phase. Kenny placed Sengenjin in his back row, paying 2000 Life Points to Special Summon it and add Golem to his hand. He paid 2000 Life Points to Special Summon Golem next, adding Wedju Temple to his hand. He activated Bonfire, and Goss used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, but Kenny had Called by the Grave! Bonfire found Trudea, and he Normal Summoned it. He moved it to the back row to place Primera in the back row. He Special Summoned Primera, adding Stand Up to his hand. He played Stand Up, sending Wedju Temple to the Graveyard to get Gargoyle II in his back row. He Special Summoned Gargoyle, reducing its Level to 4. He tuned Primera to Gargoyle for Primera Primus. Gargoyle went back to his hand; Primera Primus put Emblema Oath in his hand, then destroyed his own Trudea and Goss’s Chundra. He used Emblema Oath to put Atrii in his back row. He Special Summoned it and drew a card. After Goss had paid half his Life Points for Solemn Judgment, this was more than enough for Kenny to end the Match!
