Landon Oliver from Aurora, Colorado won the last 2 YCS events he competed in, and now he’s looking for his third consecutive win with his Azamina Fire King Snake-Eye Deck. But his Round 2 opponent, Leonardo Sacchetti from Ancona, Italy, is no stranger to the YCS scene, and has made it to the Top Cut of several YCS events. Now, Sacchetti is looking to win his first YCS trophy with his Azamina Fiendsmith Snake-Eye Deck. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Landon Oliver started off the first Duel by Normal Summoning Snake-Eye Ash. He used its effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar to his hand. He then used Poplar’s effect to Special Summon the Poplar, and then activated its on-field effect to add Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand. He used Ash’s effect to send Ash and Poplar to the Graveyard and Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon from his Deck in Defense Position. He used Poplar’s effect to put the Poplar into his back row and then activated Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye by sending Poplar to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Legendary Fire King Ponix from his Deck and used its effect to add Fire King Sanctuary to his hand. He activated it and placed Fire King Island from his Deck onto his field. He activated Island’s effect to destroy Fire King Courtier Ulcanix from his hand and add Sacred Fire King Garunix from his Deck to his hand. He used Garunix’s effect to Special Summon it and used Ulcanix’s effect to Special Summon a Fire King High Avatar Garunix. Then he activated his Sacred Fire King Garunix’s on-field effect to destroy Fire King Avatar Arvata from his Deck. He used Arvata’s effect to Special Summon Ulcanix from his Graveyard. Next, he sent Flamberge Dragon and Garunix to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Ash and Poplar back to his field, with Ash linked to the Sunlight Wolf, then used Sunlight Wolf’s effect to return a Sacred Fire King Garunix from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he sent Ash and Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon I:P Masquerena and then used Masquerena and Ulcanix to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. He used its effect to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon back to his field and then used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to move an Ulcanix from his Graveyard to his back row. Next, he used Promethean Princess and Garunix as Link Materials to Link Summon Amphibious Swarmship Amblowhale. He Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Sacchetti Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir and then activated its effect; but Oliver flipped Infinite Impermanence to negate it. Next, Sacchetti activated Bonfire to add Snake-Eye Ash to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Poplar with its effect, then used its on-field effect to add Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand. Oliver used the effect of his Flamberge Dragon to Special Summon Ulcanix and then used Ulcanix’s effect to destroy Amblowhale and add Fire King High Avatar Kirin from his Deck to his hand. He used Amblowhale’s effect to Special Summon I:P Masquerena from the Graveyard next. He used his Masquerena’s effect and sent it to the Graveyard along with Ulcanix to Link Summon S:P Little Knight linked to Sunlight Wolf. He banished Sacchetti’s Poplar with his Little Knight’s effect. Next, Sacchetti activated the Temple, and Oliver Chained his Little Knight’s effect to banish Sacchetti’s Ash and his own Little Knight until the End Phase. Sacchetti placed a Snake-Eyes Oak from his Deck into his back row with the Temple’s effect and then activated Deception of the Sinful Spoils. He Tributed his Fenrir with its effect to add The Hallowed Azamina from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated it. He sent a Deception from his hand to his Graveyard and Special Summoned Azamina Mu Rcielago. He used its effect to add a WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils to his hand. Next, he activated Kashtira Birth and Special Summoned Fenrir from his Graveyard with its effect. Oliver activated the effect of the Princess in his Graveyard to Special Summon it, targeting Fenrir and Ponix for destruction. Both were destroyed, and then Sacchetti used his Temple’s effect to Special Summon Oak from his back row. He used Oak’s effect to Special Summon his banished Poplar. Next, Oliver activated the effect of the Fire King High Avatar Kirin in his hand to Summon it by destroying his Promethean Princess. Then, he activated the effect of the Sacred Fire King Garunix in his hand in a new Chain to Special Summon it. He used its effect on the field to destroy a Fire King High Avatar Kirin in his Deck, and then used the Kirin’s effect to destroy Oak and Special Summon Arvata linked to Sunlight Wolf. He used Sunlight Wolf’s effect to add a Kirin back to his hand. Next, Sacchetti activated Dark Ruler No More to negate the effects of all monsters on Oliver’s field! He sent his two monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven. Oliver activated his Sanctuary’s effect to Xyz Summon Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings and then used its effect to destroy all monsters on the field! In a new Chain, Oliver used the effects of his Arvata, Flamberge Dragon, and Amblowhale. He destroyed Divine Temple with Amblowhale, Special Summoned a Garunix from his Graveyard with Arvata’s effect, and brought back Ash and Poplar to his field with the effect of his Flamberge Dragon. Sacchetti used The Hallowed Azamina’s effect to return it from his Graveyard to his hand, then activated it. He Chained WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils to add a Diabellstar the Black Witch from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Azamina Ilia Silvia and then Special Summoned the Diabellstar by sending Deception to the Graveyard. He used the Diabellstar’s effect to Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck and used it by sending Birth to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Oak and then used Oak’s effect by sending Oak and Diabellstar to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. He used the effect of the WANTED in his Graveyard to banish it, return a Deception to the Deck, and draw a card. He used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to place Oliver’s Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings into Oliver’s Spell & Trap Card Zone and then sent his two monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He targeted Fire King Island with Little Knight’s effect to banish it and used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Poplar and Oak from his Graveyard. Fire King Island’s effect destroyed all of Oliver’s monsters after it was banished. Next, Sacchetti sent Little Knight and Oak to the Graveyard to Summon Promethean Princess and used its effect to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon. He Link Summoned Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze next and used its effect to Special Summon a Garunix from Oliver’s Graveyard. He used Hiita and Garunix to Link Summon Silhouhatte Rabbit and used its effect to Set Angel Statue – Azurune from his Deck. In the End Phase, he Set Deception from his Graveyard to the field with its effect, and then Little Knight returned to Oliver’s field and Ash returned to Sacchetti’s field due to the Little Knight’s effect.

Oliver returned Ponix from his Graveyard to his hand in the Standby Phase and then activated the effect of Kirin in his hand. He destroyed the Ponix in his hand to Special Summon it and then activated the effect of the Sacred Fire King Garunix in his Graveyard. He Special Summoned it and then used its on-field effect to destroy Fire King High Avatar Kirin from his Deck. He used Kirin’s effect to destroy the face-down Angel Statue – Azurune and Summon Arvata from his Graveyard. Sacchetti used his Promethean Princess’s effect to try to Special Summon it from the Graveyard, but Oliver used Arvata’s effect to negate it. Next, Oliver activated WANTED to add Diabellstar the Black With to his hand and Sacchetti used his Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon the Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings from Oliver’s back row. Oliver drew a card by using the effect of WANTED in his Graveyard, then Special Summoned Diabellstar from his hand and Set Deception with its effect. He flipped the Deception and used its effect to get The Hallowed Azamina from his Deck. He activated it to Special Summon Azamina Mu Rcielago and used its effect to add another WANTED to his hand. Next, he Link Summoned Hiita and used its effect to Special Summon Sacchetti’s Promethean Princess. He used the Promethean Princess’s effect to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon from his Graveyard and then used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to move Sacchetti’s Flamberge Dragon into the back row. Next, he used the effect of The Hallowed Azamina in his Graveyard to return it to his hand and then sent Promethean Princess and Hiita to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Raging Phoenix. He Link Summoned Worldsea Dragon Zealantis next by using Raging Phoenix as a Link Material, and used Zealantis’s effect to banish all monsters on the field and return them! He Special Summoned his Promethean Princess back from the Graveyard next by destroying a monster on each player’s field, and increased his Raging Phoenix’s attack points! With Zealantis clearing the way, it was over moments later! Oliver’s monsters ended the Duel!

Duel Two

Sacchetti went first in Duel 2, but Oliver activated Mulcharmy Purulia’s effect in his Draw Phase, allowing Oliver to draw a card each time Sacchetti Summoned a monster from his hand during that first turn. Sacchetti activated Triple Tactics Thrust in his Main Phase, but lost out to Oliver’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Sacchetti used Bonfire to add Snake-Eye Ash to his hand and Normal Summoned it, allowing Oliver to draw a card with Purulia’s effect. He activated Ash’s effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar to his hand and Special Summoned it, giving Oliver another draw. Poplar’s effect added Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye to Sacchetti’s hand and he activated it to put Snake-Eyes Diabellstar from his Deck into his back row. Next, he used Ash’s effect to send it and the Diabellstar to his Graveyard and Special Summon Snake-Eyes Oak, and then used Oak’s effect to Special Summon Ash back from his Graveyard. He sent Ash and Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven and used Poplar’s effect to put Snake-Eyes Diabellstar into his back row. Next, he used Diabellstar’s effect to Special Summon it and put Poplar into his back row. Then he used Oak’s effect to send it to the Graveyard along with the Poplar in his back row and Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. Next, he used the Moon of the Closed Heaven as a Link Material to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem and then used Requiem’s effect to Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears. He used Lacrima’s effect to send Fiendsmith Engraver from his Deck to his Graveyard and then Special Summoned a Diabellstar the Black Witch from his hand, allowing Oliver to draw another card. Sacchetti Set a Deception from his Deck with the Black Witch’s effect and then Special Summoned Engraver back from his Graveyard with its effect. He Link Summoned Fiendsmith Sequence next and activated its effect, but lost out to Oliver’s Infinite Impermanence. Next, Sacchetti Link Summoned I:P Masquerena. Next, he used Masquerena and Flamberge Dragon to Link Summon Promethean Princess. He used the Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Poplar and Oak from his Graveyard, then used Princess’s effect to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon. Next, Sacchetti flipped Deception, and Oliver Chained the effect of PSY-Framegear Delta from his hand. He negated the activation of Deception and destroyed it, then Special Summoned Delta from his hand along with a PSY-Frame Driver from his Deck. Next, Sacchetti used Princess and Poplar to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix and used Sequence and Oak to Link Summon Silhouhatte Rabbit. He used its effect to Set Angel Statue – Azurune to his field and then Set another card to his back row before passing his turn. In the End Phase, Delta and Driver were banished from the field.

Oliver Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash and activated its effect. Sacchetti Chained the effect of his Flamberge Dragon to Special Summon Masquerena, then Chained Forbidden Droplet by sending Flamberge Dragon to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Masquerena, Oak, and Poplar, and negated Ash’s effect with Droplet. He used the effects of Oak and Poplar to Special Summon Ash and add Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye to his hand, then used Ash’s effect to add an Oak from his Deck to his hand. Oliver continued his turn by sending his Ash to the Graveyard to Link Summon Relinquished Anima. Sacchetti activated his Masquerena’s effect, but Oliver negated the effect and destroyed the Masquerena with Dominus Impulse. He used Anima’s effect to equip it with Sacchetti’s Snake-Eye Ash and then Sacchetti flipped Angel Statue – Azurune to Special Summon it. Next, Oliver tried to Special Summon Diabellstar the Black Witch from his hand by sending the Ash to the Graveyard, but lost out to Azurune’s effect. Next, Oliver Special Summoned Fire King High Avatar Kirin from his hand by destroying an Arvata in his hand, prompting Sacchetti to Special Summon Promethean Princess from his Graveyard. With that, Oliver conceded.

With only 40 seconds left in the round at the end of Duel 2, the clock expired before Duel 3 could begin! The Match was declared a tie!
