Round 7 Feature Match: Michael David Wisniewski vs. Keller Vaughn Beard
We’re almost there! We’re in Round 7 here at the NAWCQ, and players are hopeful that they will be able to make Day 2, with a chance then at moving onto the Top 64. For this round’s feature match, we have Michael David Wisniewski, piloting his Voiceless Voice Deck, playing against Keller Vaughn Beard, who is playing an interesting Labrynth Fiendsmith hybrid. Each of these players are currently 5-1, so a win in this round would be a big step towards qualifying for Day 2. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Beard started by activating the effect of Fiendsmith Engraver, discarding it to add Fiendsmith’s Tract from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Tract, adding and then discarding Fabled Lurrie, then activated Lurrie’s effect to Special Summon it. He used it as Link Material to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem, then activated Requiem’s effect to Special Summon another Engraver from his Deck. He activated Requiem’s effect, equipping it to Engraver, then used the Requiem and Engraver to Special Summon Necroquip Princess. Beard then activated Labrynth Stovie Torbie, discarding it and The Black Goat Laughs from his hand to Set Big Welcome Labrynth from his Deck, then used Necroquip to draw a card. He activated the Engraver’s effect in his Graveyard, returning Requiem to his Extra Deck. Beard used Necroquip and Engraver to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence, but Wisniewski responded with Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill, negating Sequence’s effect. Beard activated Labrynth Cooclock from his hand, discarding it. He then activated Arias the Labrynth Butler in his hand, discarding it to Special Summon another Arias. He triggered the effect of his Cooclock in the Graveyard, Special Summoning it to the field. Beard then activated his Set Big Welcome Labrynth, Special Summoning Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle from the Deck and returning Cooclock to the hand. Beard attempted to use Lovely to destroy a random card in Wisniewski’s hand, but Wisniewski used Effect Veiler to negate its effect, though this allowed Beard to respond by Special Summoning Arias out of the Graveyard. Beard used two copies of Arias to Xyz Summon D/D/D Wave High King Caesar, then Normal Summoned Cooclock and used Cooclock and Sequence to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, banishing Wisniewski’s Veiler, and then ended his turn.

The remaining cards in Wisniewski’s hand were Diviner of the Herald, Nadir Servant, and Pre-Preparation of Rites, then he drew Barrier of the Voiceless Voice. He started by activating Nadir Servant, sending Elder Entity N’tss to the Graveyard and adding Dogmatika Maximus from his Deck to his hand. He activated the effect of N’tss to destroy Beard’s Caesar. Next, Wisniewski activated Pre-Preparation of Rites, adding Prayers of the Voiceless Voice and Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended from his Deck to his hand. He then Special Summoned Maximus by banishing N’tss from his Graveyard. In response to the summon, Beard banished The Black Goat Laughs from his Graveyard, declaring Dogmatika Maximus, preventing it from activating its effect on the field this turn. Wisniewski then Normal Summoned Diviner of the Herald, activating its effect and sending Trias Hierarchia to the Graveyard. He activated Trias’ effect, Tributing the Diviner to Special Summon it from the Graveyard, and then activated Diviner’s effect, Special Summoning Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from the Deck. In response to the summon, Beard activated S:P’s effect, banishing it and Lo, while Wisniewski used Lo’s effect to place Radiance of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to the field.
Next, Wisniewski activated Barrier of the Voiceless Voice. However, Beard banished Big Welcome Labrynth from his Graveyard, returning Barrier to Wisniewski’s hand. Wisniewski then activated the effect of Radiance, returning Prayers from his hand back to the Deck to add Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice to his hand. He then activated Saffira, discarding it and sending Prayers to the Graveyard to add Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice to his hand. Wisniewski activated the effect of his Saffira in the Graveyard, banishing it and Tributing Trias Hierarchia to Ritual Summon the Skull Guardian! He activated Skull Guardian’s effect to add another Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Barrier again before proceeding to the End Phase, when S:P and Lo each returned to their respective fields.
Beard began his turn by activating the Engraver in his Graveyard, returning Sequence to his Extra Deck. He then used S:P, Lovely, Engraver, and Wisniewski’s Skull Guardian as Link Material to Link Summon Underworld Goddess of the Closed World. He entered the Battle Phase and attacked Lo with Underworld Goddess. He then Set a card to his backrow. Wisniewski activated the effect of his Radiance to return Prayers to his Deck and Special Summon another Lo to his field, then activated Lo’s effect to place Blessings of the Voiceless Voice to his side of the field. Beard realized his opponent could win the following turn and conceded the first Duel.

Duel Two
Beard started the Duel by activating Labrynth Stovie Torbie in his hand, discarding it and Transaction Rollback to Set Welcome Labrynth from his Deck. He then activated Labrynth Chandraglier, discarding it and another Stovie Torbie to Set Big Welcome Labrynth. He Set one more card to his backrow and ended his turn.
Wisniewski’s hand consisted of Nadir Servant, Prayers of the Voiceless Voice, Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended, Called by the Grave, and Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice, and he then drew Pre-Preparation of Rites for turn. Wisniewski began by activating Pre-Preparation of Rites, adding Prayers of the Voiceless Voice and Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his hand. On resolution, Beard activated Big Welcome Labrynth, and Wisniewski responded with Called by the Grave, banishing Beard’s Stovie Torbie! Beard resolved Big Welcome, Special Summoning Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle and returning Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle to the hand. Because a Trap Card made a monster leave the field, Beard activated Chandraglier’s effect to add it back to his hand, and also activated the effect of his Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle in hand to Special Summon it. Beard activated Lovely’s effect, destroying a random card in Wisniewski’s hand.
Beard then banished Transaction Rollback from his Graveyard, paying half of his Life Points and copying the effect of Big Welcome Labrynth, Special Summoning Arianna the Labrynth Servant from the Deck and returning Lovely to his hand. He activated Arianna’s effect, adding Cooclock from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Cooclock, discarding it as Chain Link 1, activated Different Dimension Ground as Chain Link 2, used Lady Labrynth’s effect as Chain Link 3, and finally used Chandraglier as Chain Link 4. He set both Welcome Labrynth and Dimensional Barrier to his field, and then added Cooclock back to his hand. Thanks to Cooclock’s effect, Beard was able to activate Dimensional Barrier in the turn it was set, calling Ritual Monsters. Between that and the lingering effect of Different Dimension Ground, Wisniewski conceded the Duel. Onto the all-important third Duel!

Duel Three
Wisniewski’s hand consisted of Solemn Judgment, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Nadir Servant, Prayers of the Voiceless Voice, and Odd-Eyes Pendulumgraph Dragon. He started by activating Nadir Servant, sending Garura, Wings of Resonant Life to the Graveyard and adding Dogmatika Maximus to his hand, and he drew another Solemn Judgment with Garura’s effect. Next, he Special Summoned Maximus by banishing Garura, then activated Maximus’ effect, sending Herald of the Arc Light and Tri-Brigade Ferrijit the Barren Blossom from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard, while Beard sent Fiendsmith Desirae and Unchained Soul Lord of Yama to the Graveyard. Wisniewski used Herald’s effect to add Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice to his hand, then used Ferrijit’s effect to draw a card and return Odd-Eyes Pendulumgraph Dragon to the bottom of the Deck.

Next, Wisniewski activated Prayers, Tributing Lo from his hand to Ritual Summon the Skull Guardian. Beard responded by activating the effect of Labrynth Chandraglier, discarding two copies to Set Welcome Labrynth from his Deck, and chained Arias the Labrynth Butler, setting Big Welcome Labrynth from his hand. Wisniewski activated Lo’s effect; Beard attempted to return the Skull Guardian to Wisniewski’s hand with Big Welcome, but Wisniewski negated it with Skull Guardian. However, Beard followed up by Chaining the effects of Arias and Lady Labrynth, Special Summoning both monsters while Wisniewski used Lo to place Barrier of the Voiceless Voice to the field, and used its effect to search for Radiance of the Voiceless Voice. Wisniewski Set 3 cards to his backrow and ended his turn.
Beard began his turn by activating Welcome Labrynth, but Wisniewski responded with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, he banished Big Welcome Labrynth from his Graveyard attempting to return Wisniewski’s Barrier to his hand, but Wisniewski responded by activating the effect of his Skull Guardian to negate it. Beard used Lady and Lovely as material to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven, but Wisniewski used Solemn Judgment to negate the summon. Beard Set one more card and ended his turn.
Wisniewski drew Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. Beard attempted to activate Dimensional Barrier, calling Ritual Monsters, but Wisniewski activated Skull Guardian’s effect to negate it. With Beard having no ways to interact with or stop his opponent, he conceded.

Wisniewski won and will be moving on with a 6-1 record!
