Round 4 Feature Match: Jacob Collins vs. Corbin Diez
Round 4 is about to begin, and we have two undefeated Duelists for this Feature Match! Hailing from New Hampshire is Jacob Collins, using a Fire King Snake-Eye Deck! Most Snake-Eye Duelists have changed over to Fiendsmith variants, but the Fire Kings have proven successful for Collins so far. His opponent is Utah Duelist Corbin Diez, playing Ancient Gears! This strategy just got huge upgrades from Legacy of Destruction and Battles of Legend: Terminal Revenge, taking the machine mayhem to new heights.

Duel 1
Collins won the dice roll and chose to play first. He Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash, adding Snake-Eyes Poplar to his hand. He Special Summoned Poplar and did not activate its effect. He used Ash to send both monsters to the graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Oak. Oak revived Ash, and Poplar put itself in the back row. Oak sent itself and Poplar to the graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. Flamberge’s effect put Poplar in the back row, and he followed up with Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye. It sent Poplar to the graveyard to Special Summon Legendary Fire King Ponix, which let him find Fire King Sanctuary. He played that to get Fire King Island. Bonfire came next, letting him find a backup Ash. He used Island’s effect to destroy Ponix and add Sacred Fire King Garunix to his hand. He Special Summoned Garunix since Ponix was destroyed. Garunix destroyed Fire King High Avatar from his Deck, and Kirin revived Ponix. He used Ponix and Garunix to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, then used Wolf and Ash to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. Princess revived Sunlight Wolf. He used Princess and Flamberge to Link Summon Amphibious Swarmship Amblowhale above the Sunlight Wolf arrow. Wolf’s effect returned Kirin to Collins’s hand, and Flamberge’s effect revived Oak and Ash. He used Oak and Ash to Link Summon I:P Masquerena, then used Sunlight Wolf and I:P Masquerena to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess. He Set one back row card.
Diez had a hand of Forbidden Droplet, Urgent Schedule, Ancient Gear Advance, Ancient Gear Dragon, Super Express Bullet Train. He drew Triple Tactics Talent. He activated Ancient Gear Advance, using its effect to add Ancient Gear Fortress to his hand. Collins used Droll & Lock Bird. Diez played Fortress, and Collins activated Kirin in his hand. He destroyed Amblowhale and Special Summoned Kirin. In a new Chain, Amblowhale’s effect revived I:P, and Garunix returned to the field. Garunix’s effect activated, and Diez Chained Urgent Schedule, then Chained Forbidden Droplet! Droplet sent Schedule and Super Express Bullet Train to the graveyard to negate I:P and Garunix for the turn, halving their ATK. Then Schedule Special Summoned Ancient Gear Dark Golem and Ancient Gear Commander with their effects negated. Thanks to Fortress, Collins was unable to use the Promethean Princess in his graveyard. Diez Normal Summoned Ancient Gear Dragon. Then he used Dark Golem and Commander to Link Summon Ancient Gear Ballista. He used the effect of Ballista, targeting his own Advance and Collins’s Apollousa! Apollousa couldn’t respond due to Fortress, so it dropped to 0 ATK! He sent Ballista to destroy Apollousa in battle. In Main Phase 2, Diez used Triple Tactics Talent to steal I:P! He used I:P and Ballista to Link Summon Knightmare Gryphon. Collins activated Promethean Princess, targeting Gryphon and Kirin. Gryphon was not destroyed thanks to the I:P’s effect, but this let Kirin activate when destroyed. Collins Chained Forbidden Droplet, sending Garunix to the graveyard to negate Gryphon. Kirin resolved, Special Summoning Ponix and destroying Fortress. Fortress revived Ballista. Diez passed the turn, and used Super Express Bullet Train’s effect to add Ancient Gear Commander to his hand.
Collins tried using the effect of Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye in his graveyard, and Diez responded with Ancient Gear Dragon, sending Ancient Gear Golem to the graveyard to negate Collins’s card. Collins Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash, adding Poplar to his hand. He Special Summoned Poplar, then used Princess to revive Flamberge. Flamberge put Diez’s Gryphon in the Spell & Trap Card Zone. Collins then used Ponix and Princess to Link Summon Salamangreat Raging Phoenix. He activated Fire King Island, destroying Poplar to add Fire King Avatar Arvata to his hand. He Special Summoned Garunix from the graveyard, which destroyed Kirin from his Deck. Kirin Special Summoned Arvata from his hand and destroyed Ballista. Arvata destroyed Ancient Gear Dragon in battle, and the rest of Collins’s monsters attacked directly to end the Duel!

Duel 2
Diez played first this time, with a hand of Pot of Desires, Ancient Gear Wyvern, Ancient Gear Frame, Geartown, and Triple Tactics Thrust. He played Desires first and drew Ancient Gear Tanker and Power Filter. Collins had another Droll & Lock Bird. Diez used Triple Tactics Thrust to Set Different Dimension Ground. He activated Power Filter. “You’re insane,” Collins said, and both Duelists laughed. Diez Normal Summoned Tanker, which let him Special Summon Frame. He activated Geartown, then had Tanker destroy Geartown. Geartown Special Summoned Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon in Defense Position. He used Tanker and Frame to Link Summon Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir in Defense Position.

Collins drew his card, and Diez flipped Different Dimension Ground. Collins Set a monster and two back row cards.
Diez drew another Tanker, and detached Frame from Bagooska. He Normal Summoned Tanker, turning it to Defense Position from Bagooska, and he immediately regretted the play. He was committed now, so he moved Reactor Dragon and Bagooska to Attack Position. He moved to the Battle Phase, and Collins flipped Skill Drain! Diez sent his Reactor Dragon to attack, destroying Collins’s Set Poplar. Poplar put itself in the back row. Bagooska attacked directly.
Collins had survived Different Dimension Ground and the Bagooska, but still had Power Filter and his own Skill Drain to deal with. He Normal Summoned Oak, then used its effect to send itself and Skill Drain to the graveyard, Special Summoning Flamberge from his hand. Flamberge turned Reactor Dragon into a Continuous Spell, then attacked to destroy Tanker.
Diez drew another Frame and detached Bagooska’s last material. He Normal Summoned Wyvern, and Collins flipped Forbidden Droplet. He sent his backrow Poplar to the graveyard to negate Wyvern. Poplar’s effect let it return to the back row. Diez turned Bagooska to Defense Position, forcing the other monsters to Defense Position as well.
Collins passed.
Diez drew Ancient Gear Catapult, and Bagooska was destroyed with no materials remaining. He Normal Summoned Frame, discarding Catapult as the cost to add Fortress to his hand. He played Fortress, then Link Summoned Ballista. Ballista added Geartown to his hand, and he activated it. Ballista’s effect destroyed Geartown to drop Flamberge to 0 ATK/DEF. Geartown activated, and Collins used Flamberge to Special Summon Reactor Dragon from the back row. Geartown let Diez Special Summon Dark Golem, which added Commander and Ancient Gear Duel to his hand, then discarded Commander. Commander’s effect placed Duel face-up in play. He used Duel to Fusion Summon Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem, giving it three attacks each Battle Phase! Collins had no way to survive the massive amount of piercing damage coming his way!

Duel 3
Collins chose to play second in the final Duel with just under 5 minutes on the clock. He was hoping to throw off Diez’s Side Deck choices by playing second, and he would be the first to have a potential Battle Phase.
Diez started with Lightning Storm, 2 Tankers, Wyvern, and Geartown. He Normal Summoned Tanker, which let him bring Wyvern to the field. Collins had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to shut down Wyvern. He played Geartown, and destroyed it with Tanker, letting Geartown’s effect bring Dark Golem to the field. Dark Golem’s effect put Ancient Gear Fusion and Advance in his hand, discarding Lightning Storm. He played Advance to get Fortress, and played that as well. He played Ancient Gear Fusion, fusing Commander from his Deck and Dark Golem from his field into Ancient Gear Howitzer! It burned Collins for 1000 damage. He stacked Tanker and Wyvern for Abyss Dweller and passed with both monsters in Defense Position.
Collins used Mind Control on Abyss Dweller, and Diez Chained with Dweller’s effect. Collins used One for One next, sending Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to the graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash. Ash added Poplar to his hand, and he Special Summoned it to find Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye. He played Fire King Sanctuary to put Fire King Island on the field, then used Original to send Sanctuary to the graveyard and Special Summon Ponix. He used Island to destroy Ponix, adding Garunix to his hand. He Special Summoned Garunix, which destroyed Arvata in his Deck. He used Snake-Eye Ash to send itself and Dweller to the graveyard and Special Summon Oak. Oak revived Ponix, and he used Ponix, Oak, and Poplar for Princess. Princess revived Arvata. He moved to the Battle Phase just as the round timer ended. Princess destroyed Howitzer, and Howitzer’s effect Special Summoned Tanker – Collins couldn’t respond with Arvata due to Fortress! Tanker then revived Howitzer from the graveyard, and Collins couldn’t get past Diez’s wall of monsters to deal any damage!

Corbin Diez remains undefeated with Ancient Gears!
